So you have heard that… We inherit actions, habits and mind-

sets from parents, teachers, school friends, mentors, society etc .

These actions either unleash blessings or curses.

And you know that…

We can break free by no longer being conformed to the patterns of this world but by being transformed by the renewing of the mind.

..and being born again, repenting of those actions, becoming a new person.

Why is it so hard to change?

Because it starts with the fear of rejection.

2 Timothy 1:7For the Spirit God does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

School, work, society – same pressure.

We are so afraid of outside judgement that we shrink away from stepping up at the slightest hint of rejection.

Page 6: Breaking free from the grip of generational curse

We allow ourselves to be bullied by the pack.

“Your vision is too big Godlife! It’s impossible!”

Matthew 19:26Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

We fear being the odd one out. It’s too much work to make a

commitment to change. It’s so much easier staying part of the pack. We don’t want to look like the only positive ‘freak’ wherever we are.

Being different is weird.

How can everyone else be wrong?

Matthew 10:161 “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves.”

Page 9: Breaking free from the grip of generational curse

Do not conform?

I know this is how I am supposed to act but I am surrounded by negative people.

Page 10: Breaking free from the grip of generational curse

Change always means rejection.Mark 13:1313 Everyone will hate you because of me”

Accept this fact. People don’t wave happy flags at agents of change.

Page 11: Breaking free from the grip of generational curse

People FEAR change.

They would rather stay in chains than take a chance on the smallest ‘false’ hope.

We are supposed to be different!Leviticus 20:26I have set you apart from the nations to be my own.

Page 13: Breaking free from the grip of generational curse

Like Noah…

Imagine building an Ark with no rain in sight. Just because God said you should…

Surprises…

1 John 3:1313 Do not be surprised, my brothers and sisters, if the world hates you.1 Peter 4:4 4 They are surprised that you do not

join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.

The bottom line?

You can stay stuck in your rut. Focused only on the little world around you or you can roll up your sleeves and make your life about building an ark to save mankind!

Your life will not change unless your thinking and actions change!
