HOW DOES COLOR AFFECT ART? Color is a huge factor when it comes to art. It makes a

picture come alive and it sets the overall tone and mood of the painting.

All of the pictures in this exhibition will have color, but the underlying tones and symbols will be different.

Every artist shown will have a certain message he or she is trying to get across to the viewer.

• This painting has very light, and warm colors. The red top that the mother is wearing represents her love and passion for her children.

• In the back drop, we see a light blue sky with clouds and a very warm looking brown and green landscape.

• The blue represents peace and tranquility while the brown symbolizes earth, and stability. There is a good mixture of cool and warm colors in this painting. Raphael, Madonna of the

• In this picture we can see the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. There are very dark colors throughout this picture that resemble sadness and death.

• The people next to him are wearing red and white which symbolize the blood he shed for his people in order for them to be pure and reborn into eternal life. Grunewald, The Crucifixion. 1515,

• This painting depicts a migration from one country to another. There are very happy and warm colors throughout this entire piece.

• In the background we see cupids and white bright light coming from a distance. This could represent a new beginning for a group of people.

• The cupids represent the couples in the picture and their love for each other.

• There is a golden boat that the people are boarding, which represents their happiness and joy that will be taken to the new land.

• In this picture, we see a lot of darkness in the back and foreground. This depicts the death of the bird and the sadness of most of the people in the room.

• We see the red coat worn by the conductor of the experiment and this red represent the blood of the bird being put on his hands.

• The yellow glow from the candle can represent the “enlightenment” of the people during this era of the Enlightenment. Wright. An Experiment on a Bird

• In the background of this picture, we see a dark storm taking over a bright blue sky. We also see gray mountain ranges in the distance.

• Napoleon is riding his white horse and wearing his black and gold military dress uniform with a red cape on his back.

• The gray storm overtaking the sky in the background symbolizes turmoil and war taking over calm and peaceful times.

• The colors of his uniform and horse all tie into the representation of his power, wealth and formality. He is leading his soldiers into battle.

• In this painting, we see the woman standing front and center almost having a glow to her. This glow creates a white background and is lighting up everything around her.

• She is holding the French flag which has the colors of blue, white and red.

• The white background signifies the reverence the people have for their country, and the birth of a new way of life.

• The flags colors are symbolic as well. The blue represents freedom, the white represents equality, and the red represents brotherhood.
