PRIORITY for LIFE ?


Knowing that we ….were born in sin…cannot save yourself…Knowing that God’s Son willingly died…and paid the price for our sin ….

Q: What’s should be our PRIORITY for LIFE ? How do we respond ?How should we respond ?


1. PRIORITY for LIFE … It’s all about God … God’s Kingdom Principles … (last week)

SIN has turned the world - her principles & values ….

CHRIST’s Redemption & Restoration is to … Turn the World RIGHT SIDE UP…. &

Usher in His Kingdom – the Kingdom of God


1. PRIORITY for LIFE … Should be on GOD

& HIS KINGDOMMatt 6:33 (Paraphrase)But SEEK FIRST God’s Kingdom and

God’s righteousness, and ALL these things…

(physical, financial, emotional…)will be given to you as well.

22 BLESSED are you when men HATE you, when they EXCLUDE you and INSULT you and REJECT your name as evil, BECAUSE OF THE SON OF MAN.

23 "Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.

Luke 6:20-23 (Message)20 You're BLESSED when you've lost it all. God's kingdom

is there for the finding. 21 You're BLESSED when you're ravenously hungry.

Then you're ready for the Messianic meal. You're BLESSED when the tears flow freely. Joy comes with the morning.

22 "Count yourself BLESSED every time someone cuts you down or throws you out, every time someone smears or blackens your name to discredit me…

23 You can be glad when that happens … for even though they don't like it, I do… and all heaven applauds….

Luke 6:24-26 (NIV)24 "But WOE TO YOU who are RICH, for you have

already received your comfort. 25 WOE TO YOU who are WELL FED NOW, for you will

go hungry.WOE TO YOU who LAUGH NOW, for you will mourn and weep.

26 WOE TO YOU when ALL MEN SPEAK WELL of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.


BLESSINGS ….Happiness…Favoured…Approved by God…FOUR of them …

WOES …. Expresses regret… Unhappy, Sorrow… Trouble ahead …FOUR as well …

2. PURPOSE in LIFE


V20 Blessed are you who are poor,

(pauper, beggar)

{‘poor in spirit’}**

for yours is the Kingdom of God.

V24 But woe to you who are rich, (wealthy, abounding)for you HAVE ALREADY(payment in full) received your comfort.

2. PURPOSE in LIFE


V21a Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied.

V25a Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry.

V21b Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh

V25b Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.

2. PURPOSE in LIFE


22 Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.

23 "Rejoice in that day and leap for joy,

because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.

26 Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the FALSE prophets.

2. PURPOSE in LIFEv26 “… you live only for the approval of

others, saying what flatters them, doing

what indulges them. Popularity contests

are not truth contests …Your task is to be

true, not popular.” Message Bible


Q: Does it then mean that all Christians should be…

Poor, Hungry, Weeping & Hated by all –

then only are we BLESSED ?

Q: Does it mean conversely Christians cannot be…

Rich, Well Fed, Jovial and Liked by all ?

Is this what Jesus was teaching His Disciples ?

NO, NO, NO – Definitely NOT.


Bible full of men of God who were RICH …

Eg Abraham, Isaac & Jacob – the Patriachs

Job, David, Solomon - rich & well fed people

Yes, Job did cry and lament …. but

It’s obvious that God Blessed each of them…

So “wealth” itself is not the problem ….

It’s our ATTITUDE Towards Wealth & Blessings ….

BEFORE ALMIGHTY GOD …


2. PURPOSE in LIFE :

Is to Be “RICH”

His Kingdom …

His Works …

If we get our PRIORITY for LIFE Right ….

our PURPOSE in LIFE will also be Right…

towards God …


2. PURPOSE in LIFE : Q: Why is it so much easier for a POOR MAN to

place his trust in God ?Q: Why is it so much harder for a RICH MAN to

place his trust in God ?Matt 6:24 "No one can serve two masters.

Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and ‘Money’.
