HOW DOES PRIDE EXPRESS ITSELF?

DEF: PRIDE is putting self in the place of God as the center and object of our life, or of some aspect thereof. It is the refusal to recognize our status as creatures, dependent on God for our existence, and placed by him in a specific relationship to the rest of his creation.

HOW DOES PRIDE EXPRESS ITSELF?

Irreverence. Deliberate neglect of the worship of God in His church, or being content with a superficial or occasional participation in it. Disregard of other Holy Days or of additional opportunities for giving God honor. Failure to thank God or to express our gratitude adequately.

HOW DOES PRIDE EXPRESS ITSELF?

Sentimentality. Being satisfied with pious feelings and beautiful ceremonies without striving to obey God’s will. Presumption. Dependence on self rather than on God, with the consequent neglect of the means of grace – prayer, reading of His Word, celebration of the Lord’s Supper, etc.

WHAT’S THE ANSWER?

ADMIT & CONFESS! MAINTAIN A HUMBLE ATTITUDE, DAILY! HUMBLE IS A VERB!1Pet 5:5 God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, and he will lift you up!
