A plugin in wordpress is like a small program that is self contained and packaged in a way that allows you to install it almost automatically (or remove it) without any technical knowledge

What can a plugin do?

Almost anything!

You can use plugins to add or change functionaly on your wordpress site.

Things like;Create a membership site, social site connections, speed your site up with cache plugins, increase security with security plugins, add pizzazz, color, multimedia and much much more

How much will they cost?

There are a huge number of plugins for free (including many very high quality plugins)

And there are of course paid plugins, often presented like an extended version (or bundled with other plugins or services) of a free plugin

So in many cases you’ll find free plkugins doing what you want and in most cases when a paid plugin is neede, the costs is quite low.
