The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC)
What is it? The BBFC is an organization that is very important in
the Film Industry. They are responsible for the classification of films shown in cinemas, on tv, adverts and public information. They judge what rating each film/source of media is suitable for, making it age appropriate.
The current president of BBFC is Patrick Swaffer, and the current director is David Austin OBE.
What symbols do they use?
Universal- all ages admitted

PG- all ages admitted but has some mild language, Parental Guidance reconmmended.

12 A- people under age of 12 need to be with an adult
What symbols do they use?
12- People under age of 12 cannot enter cinema viewing
What symbols do they use?
15- People under age of 15 cannot enter cinema viewing
What symbols do they use?
18- People under age of 18 cannot enter cinema viewing
What symbols do they use?
Restricted 18- can only be presentenced at adult cinemas or sex shops.
