QUICKTIME CRASHApple’s QuickTime Media Player includes a plug-in

known as QuickTime Plug-In. Basically this plugin

allows you to play compatible video and audio

content on the web. It tends to crash occasionally

while adding videos to the playlist. Interestingly,

many software such as CamTwist Studio, are

entirely made up of QuickTime components. As a

result, even though you haven’t installed QuickTime

Media Player you may still encounter this problem.

DEACTIVATE THE PLUGINYou may simply deactivate the plugin that crashes

repeatedly. The steps for different browsers are

outlined below:

Google Chrome

Type “chrome:plugins” in Address Bar.

Press ENTER.

Scroll down the page, and locate QuickTime plug-in.

Click the “Disable” link ahead of the name of the

plug-in.

Internet Explorer Press Alt key to show menu bar. Click Tools | Manage Add-Ons. Select the QuickTime plug-in and then click the

Disable button. Opera Click the Opera icon at top left corner of the

screen. Extensions page will load comprising of various

plug-ins list. Click “Enabled” link on the left panel so that

you’ll see the list of enabled plug-ins only. Locate and deactivate the QuickTime plug-in.

Mozilla Firefox Press the Alt key of your keyboard. The menu bar will be displayed. Click the Tools menu, select Add-Ons. The Add-ons Manager page will load. Click the Extensions tab on the left panel. Click “Disable” button ahead of the QuickTime

plug-in.

UNINSTALL THE RECENTLY INSTALLED WINDOWS UPDATES

Windows Update KB2995388 and KB2975719 can be

blamed for the Quick Time Plug-in crash. These two

updates are known for making changes to the system

settings related to the functioning of MP4 file types.

MP4 file content may not play and cause the plug-in

to crash due to the recent changes. Check whether

any of these updates were recently installed.

For Windows 8.1/8 Press Windows Key + X. Select Programs and Features. Click “View installed updates” link on the left hand

side panel. You’ll get the list of all installed updates. In the Search box located at the top right corner, type

the following update names one by one and uninstall both of them.· KB2995388· KB2975719

Restart your computer after finalizing the un installation.

For Windows 7/Vista

Click the Start button.

Type “View installed updates” in the Search Box.

Press ENTER.

CHANGE REGISTRY SETTINGS

Add new entries in the Windows Registry such as

DumpFolder, DumpType, GlobalFlag and

PageHeapFlags. For your convenience, we’re

providing the ready-made code that you have to

paste in a Notepad document and create a

Registry File (.reg).

For Windows 8.1/8/7/Vista

Press Windows Key to open the Start Screen.

Type “Notepad” in the Search Box.

Click the Apps icon, in case of Windows 8.1 / 8.

Open that from the Search Results.

Copy / paste the following lines into the Notepad

document:

Click the File menu, select Save.

Specify the File Name as “Reg_Changes.reg”

(without quotes)

Select the File Type as “All Files”.

Select Desktop as the File Location.

Click the Save button, and exit the Notepad.

Double click the file on your Desktop. When

you’re asked to confirm merging the Registry

entries, click OK to proceed and go ahead.

MODIFY APPLICATION SETTINGS

Basically you can use Adobe Flash Player plug-

in instead of QuickTime plug-in, whenever the

latter isn’t functioning properly. To do so, modify

the application settings as shown below:

For Windows 8.1/8/7/Vista

Open the QuickTime Media Player. Click the lined Options button located at the top

right corner. Options dialog will open. Click the Applications tab. Under “Shockwave Flash Object” category and

“Action” drop down box select “Use Adobe Flash Player”

instead of QuickTime Plug-in. Click the OK button.
