VOLUNTEER WORK

● IT Staff- I volunteered to work as IT Staff for an intercollegiate video game tournament at the University of Cincinnati in Fall of 2015. My duties included maintenance and tech support on the network we had established for the event, technical support for the competitors and other staff, and being a go between for organisers and University staff.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Apprentice - Eleven Fifty Academy - Carmel, Indiana - May 2016 - September 2016

Eleven Fifty Academy is non-profit coding bootcamp located in Carmel, Indiana. They aim to provide an environment where they can train people to fill the ever increasing need for programmers in today’s workforce.

As an apprentice I worked on projects taken on by the academy for clients. These projects served to both grant us real world development experience and further develop our skills as programmers. For every project we worked within a SCRUM organizational environment and performed a round of testing for each sprint.

Additionally, in the latter part of the program, I was selected to serve in a teaching assistant role where I mentored and trained a class of 20+ individuals who were participating in the same development program I had successfully completed.

Stocker – King Café- Miami University- Oxford, Ohio- Fall Semester 2015

Responsible for ensuring a superior customer experience is provided by the university library cafe. During rush periods and in times of accidents I performed all roles including stocking the cold storage areas and ensuring customer-facing areas are appealing. Front line sales and customer service role for award-winning national retailer. Responsibilities included understanding customer problems and finding the appropriate product or service solution. Trained customers on the proper use and maintenance of products with a focus on lawn and garden equipment. Skills acquired: Sales, customer service, problem-solving, training and repair

Custodial Services – Miami University, Oxford, Ohio – Summer 2013 Entry-level custodian role for university residence halls and administrative buildings. Responsibilities included industrial level cleaning, repair and maintenance of numerous buildings on campus. Special focus on maintaining university plumbing fixtures, common areas and infrastructure in top working order. Skills acquired: Hard work, taking orders, commitment to task, teamwork and a job well done!
