• The increase of cyber-attacks against financial institutions has brought discussions of cybersecurity into the executive suite and boardroom

FFIEC Cybersecurity Assessment Tool

• In June 2015, the FFIEC created the Cybersecurity Assessment Tool to help financial institutions evaluate their overall cyber risk

• The tool is an extensive self-assessment questionnaire in PDF form

• Financial institutions are encouraged to continuously assess and monitor their cybersecurity preparedness using the tool

• The FFIEC does not currently require financial institutions to perform the Cybersecurity Assessment

• Use of the tool is highly encouraged by the FFIEC as it allows financial institutions to strengthen their cybersecurity program

• There are many indicators that suggest the Cybersecurity Assessment may align with future regulations
