BiblioBoard for Libraries

Started as an partnership with British Library

– Started with creating a 19th century historical

books app for tablets and mobile devices.

– Because of the success of this app, created a

platform that makes it easy for any museum,

library, and other historical institutions to

create and organize thematic anthologies.

– Then all of these anthologies are available on

Biblioboard libraries

To create a digital anthology,

your project will go through three

phases:

Discovery, Enhancement, and

Marketing

Page 8: BiblioBoard

Discovery

Page 9: BiblioBoard

You can “Upload" custom

content, make sure that it has

Discovery - Search

Search can be a powerful tool for finding items to add to

anthology. “BiblioBoard Search” automatically searches a

database of public domain/creative commons materials which

you can use to create your anthology.

The creator has the option of searching by keywords or Media

Type. Be sure to carefully look at and browse the items to see if

they fit your anthology.

Page 13: BiblioBoard

Discovery - Review

Review is where you can organize and removes items before your

enhancement stage. This will give you the same view you had of materials

during Upload and Search phase.

This is mostly an opportunity for you to review or remove your work one

more time before starting the enhancement phase (editing metadata, adding

text, and finalizing contributor information).

Page 14: BiblioBoard

Anthology Overview

You must include a document during your

Discovery phase called Anthology Overview.

This is a document that is a 1-2 pages that

should tell viewers more about your anthology,

yourself as a creator, and/or more about your

organization.

You cannot complete the Discovery phase of

your anthology unless you have submitted this

statement.

Please contact the Media Resource Librarian at

[email protected] for a template of the

Anthology Overview

Page 15: BiblioBoard

Discovery - Finish

Once you select the “Finish Discovery” phase, you might

have to wait a couple of hours-day for the next state of your

project to begin.

Page 16: BiblioBoard

Enhancement

Page 17: BiblioBoard

Enhancement – Files Pass or

Fail

Sometimes your files will fail to process

the first time you go through discovery. Be

sure to click the button to “Reprocess

Failed Files” to get get the failed files

through to the Enhancement phase. If

your files continue to fail, it might be due to

a corrupt or bad file or misuse of copyright.

Page 18: BiblioBoard

Enhancement – Review QualityYou need to Accept or Reject every

item in your collection in order for the

item to be featured in your final

anthology.

To review an item, click on the

title.

Page 19: BiblioBoard

Enhancement – Item Review

If your book is of poorer

quality than you imagined,

then you can reject the

book and give a reason

why.

Page 20: BiblioBoard

Enhancement – Item Review

From here you can

set a title page, set as

a thumbnail page,

add to visual browse

stream, or hide page.

If you right click on

an page, you can

set as title page,

set as thumbnail

page, add to visual

stream or hide

page.

Page 21: BiblioBoard

Title Page – Page that represents the

biographic information of the book.

Thumbnail – Page you want to visually

represent your book on BiblioBoard, and

functions as the cover of the book. Can be

the same as your title page.

Visual Browse Stream (VBS) –these image are important because they

enable your anthology to be more

searchable, use them later for

collection/anthology images later in the

process. Pick any image that is of good

quality – do not pick text based images.

Hide pages – perform this action for

blank pages that you do want to take up

space in your anthology

Enhancement – Save and

Accept

Once you are done

with designating

different parts of your

image during your

review, you can Reject

or Save and Accept.

Page 23: BiblioBoard

Enhancement - Describe

When you first enter this phase of Enhancement, every item

will say “Pending.” Click on the item to enhance the

description or metadata of the item. If you have uploaded

your own item, the metadata is done and just needs to be

reviewed. If you uploaded an item from the BiblioBoard

database, this is where you add a description.

Page 24: BiblioBoard

The metadata fields are

identical to the fields you

used to input your own

items during the discovery

phase.

You will have to fill in:
