BiblioBoard for Libraries
Started as an partnership with British Library
– Started with creating a 19th century historical
books app for tablets and mobile devices.
– Because of the success of this app, created a
platform that makes it easy for any museum,
library, and other historical institutions to
create and organize thematic anthologies.
– Then all of these anthologies are available on
Biblioboard libraries

To create a digital anthology,
your project will go through three
phases:
Discovery, Enhancement, and
Marketing
Discovery
You can “Upload" custom
content
If you are uploading your own
content, make sure that it has
correct copyright
• You own the
copyright
• Public Domain
• Creative Commons
Licenses
• CC-Attribution
• CC-Attribution
Discovery -
Upload
When you upload an
item, this (*) is the
required field metadata
fields that you will
need to add.
• License Type
• File Type
• Title
• Creator
• Publication Date
• Description
The more information
you put in the more
complete your
anthology will become.
File types:
Books/articles: PDF
Images: jpg, png, gif
Audio: mp3
Video: have to be put through
YouTube,
Vimeo, or Internet Archives
Media Type:
License Type:
Discovery - Search
Search can be a powerful tool for finding items to add to
anthology. “BiblioBoard Search” automatically searches a
database of public domain/creative commons materials which
you can use to create your anthology.
The creator has the option of searching by keywords or Media
Type. Be sure to carefully look at and browse the items to see if
they fit your anthology.
Discovery - Review
Review is where you can organize and removes items before your
enhancement stage. This will give you the same view you had of materials
during Upload and Search phase.
This is mostly an opportunity for you to review or remove your work one
more time before starting the enhancement phase (editing metadata, adding
text, and finalizing contributor information).
Anthology Overview
You must include a document during your
Discovery phase called Anthology Overview.
This is a document that is a 1-2 pages that
should tell viewers more about your anthology,
yourself as a creator, and/or more about your
organization.
You cannot complete the Discovery phase of
your anthology unless you have submitted this
statement.
Please contact the Media Resource Librarian at
[email protected] for a template of the
Anthology Overview
Discovery - Finish
Once you select the “Finish Discovery” phase, you might
have to wait a couple of hours-day for the next state of your
project to begin.
Enhancement
Enhancement – Files Pass or
Fail
Sometimes your files will fail to process
the first time you go through discovery. Be
sure to click the button to “Reprocess
Failed Files” to get get the failed files
through to the Enhancement phase. If
your files continue to fail, it might be due to
a corrupt or bad file or misuse of copyright.
Enhancement – Review QualityYou need to Accept or Reject every
item in your collection in order for the
item to be featured in your final
anthology.
To review an item, click on the
title.
Enhancement – Item Review
If your book is of poorer
quality than you imagined,
then you can reject the
book and give a reason
why.
Enhancement – Item Review
From here you can
set a title page, set as
a thumbnail page,
add to visual browse
stream, or hide page.
If you right click on
an page, you can
set as title page,
set as thumbnail
page, add to visual
stream or hide
page.
Title Page – Page that represents the
biographic information of the book.
Thumbnail – Page you want to visually
represent your book on BiblioBoard, and
functions as the cover of the book. Can be
the same as your title page.
Visual Browse Stream (VBS) –these image are important because they
enable your anthology to be more
searchable, use them later for
collection/anthology images later in the
process. Pick any image that is of good
quality – do not pick text based images.
Hide pages – perform this action for
blank pages that you do want to take up
space in your anthology

page
Example of a good
Thumbnail
Example of a good VBS
image
Enhancement – Save and
Accept
Once you are done
with designating
different parts of your
image during your
review, you can Reject
or Save and Accept.
Enhancement - Describe
When you first enter this phase of Enhancement, every item
will say “Pending.” Click on the item to enhance the
description or metadata of the item. If you have uploaded
your own item, the metadata is done and just needs to be
reviewed. If you uploaded an item from the BiblioBoard
database, this is where you add a description.
The metadata fields are
identical to the fields you
used to input your own
items during the discovery
phase.
You will have to fill in:
Title
Language

License type
The license type will
automatically be filled in as
“Public Domain” since the
BiblioBoard database is

Enhancement – Collections

8 collections. All of you content will appear on the left hand
side of the screen.
To add a collection, click “Add Collection” at the top of the
screen.
Enhancement – Collections
Once you select “Add Collection” you will need to select the
Name and Description of your collection.
You also have the option of selecting an image to present
your collection, but this is optional. You can upload an image,
or select from your Visual Browse Stream images.
Enhancement – Collections
Once you create your collections, you can
drag and drop content into the collection
that you believe that it should live. You
can also click and drag the content into a
different order.
Enhancement – Finish
Once you click on the “Finish
Enhancement” button, you can then
immediately enter into the Marketing
stage.
Marketing

collection on BiblioBoard and function as your cover to
your anthology. You can either choose your own
image or upload an image form you Visual Browse

about himself or herself.
Marketing – Pricing
