DESCRIPTION

With Oracle WebLogic Server now available "as a service" both on premise working in conjunction with Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Pack and also in several Public Clouds beyond Oracle Public Cloud, customers have a clear set of architectural alternatives when looking at building out an enterprise cloud strategy for WebLogic Server. Cloud with WebLogic Server is not just core server but the layered and related products needed in a cloud infrastructure -Web Tier, WebLogic Server, Database and Fusion Middleware - as well as the full lifecycle capabilities needed: development, administration and operations. Navigate a pragmatic cloud approach for your organization and WebLogic Server.

Consideration: Security and Compliance

Our data access is restricted based on geopolitical boundaries. I can’t use the public cloud.

Maybe we can put development and test

environments in the cloud, and prove the concept for

our more complex systems.

I know cloud providers have security as a top

priority, so our business can focus on value add.

Consideration: IT Architecture Ownership

I need granular control over our hardware and software components. My mission-critical apps require it.

We DO own a lot of our technology stack. But I wonder if it would save money to offload some infrastructure or software costs.

Our business value isn’t in IT. We need to

operate lean and agile, so cloud services are the way to go for us.

Consideration: High Availability/SLAs

I want to keep our SLA level at 99.999% or higher. With a public cloud, I can’t influence that to my satisfaction.

Can we use a cloud provider to achieve more efficient redundancy across our many data centers?

Many cloud providers offer 99.95% or higher availability. That’s “good enough” for our business, and we can’t afford to invest further.

Consideration: Availability/Service Level AgreementsKeeping Your Cloud Apps and Infrastructure Always-On

On-premise, availability is up to your needs and investment

On-premise you can control redundancy, policies, etc.

Most cloud providers: 99.95% up

Engineered Systems (soon) goal is 99.999%

We use what you would for on-premise in our cloud: Engineered Systems, RAC, Coherence, Maximum Availability Architecture
