WHAT IS ROOTING?

Rooting is a process to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android system.

This is done by installing an executable ‘su’ under /system/xbin/.

WHY ROOT OR NOT TO ROOT?

To improve the performance of an old phone. Rooting enables all the user-installed applications to

run privileged commands that are typically unavailable to the devices in their stock configuration.

After you have a root access over your phone, you could browse your Android root folder and make any changes to the system files on your phone.

1.USING RECOVERY

1. Boot into the recovery mode.

2. Choose option – install zip3. Choose option – choose zip

from /storage/sdcard14. Browse to the zip file in SD

card5. Select and confirm.

2.USING DOWNLOAD MODE

1. Unzip the zip file on PC.

2. Start ODIN

3. Boot into download mode

4. Press volume up button

5. Attach phone with USB cable to PC

6. Configure settings as required

TYPES OF BRICKING

Phone shows some signs of life. Most times the booting process gets stuck on

manufacturer’s logo screen. Or the phone gets stuck in boot loops. Possible reasons – error in zip file, rooting procedure

or interruptions like USB cable not connected properly. Can be resolved by flashing new rom, or nandroid

backup.

HARD BRICK

Device shows no signs of life. Caused by human carelessness. Such as flashing a kernel or ROM with different

firmware version. Most of the times unfixable.

PRECAUTIONS

Look for exact match for your phones model number while searching for guides, ROMS, Kernel etc.

While flashing Custom ROMS, go for stable builds. Do a good amount of research for your phone.
