Nielsen and Facebook Partner to Study the Impact of Video Ads Beyond ViewCounts: Facebook Marketing Science team commissioned Nielsen to analyze howvideo ads affect brand metrics. The findings show that video view counts alone don’ttell advertisers enough about the value driven from digital video ads. A lift in ad recall,brand awareness and purchase consideration occurred from the moment a video adwas viewed, even before one second. Even people who never watched the video butsaw the impression were still impacted by the ad. As expected, lift increased the longerpeople watch the ad.

Half of All Facebook Users Access the App Each Month: GlobalWebIndex’s newQ1 2015 Insight Report on Social Media Engagement reported that 55% ofFacebook’s entire active user base accessed the site through the official Facebookapp in February 2015. YouTube (47%), Instagram (46%), and Twitter (43%) also posthealthy figures when it comes to their app usage. The smaller networks lag behind.

Links Get Highest Organic Reach on Facebook Pages: Social analyticsfirm, Locowise, analyzed 500 Facebook pages throughout the month of February2015 and found that the average organic reach for each page is approximately 7% oftotal likes. This figure goes up to 11% for pages with fewer than 10,000 likes. Thosewith 10,000 to 99,999 likes saw 6% reach, while those with more than 100,000 were at5%. Based on their findings, links draw the most organic reach at 18%, followed byvideos (9%), text-only updates (9%) and photos (7%).

How CMOs Use Twitter: A new study from social insights firm, Leadtail, examined theTwitter habits of 1,034 CMOs and marketing executives at brands and agenciesin U.S. and Canada. The study found that Twitter continues to act as a hub forcontent, with many marketers posting content from other networks to Twitter. YouTubedrove the most shares, as 48 % of CMOs shared YouTube content to Twitter duringthe study period. The study also revealed the top social media apps and services forsharing and the most preferred content type and sources among CMOs.
