DESCRIPTION

In the immortal words of The Boomtown Rats: ‘Tell me why, I don’t like Mondays, tell me why...’ We’ll tell you why, you come into work after a relaxing weekend to be greeted by a week-long whirlwind of emails, tweets and posts. Monday is a tough day, so we’ve created the winning Monday morning combination, to help you tick off the most important tasks and breathe. 1. First in, first served! You shouldn’t have 2 million Tweets to deal with on a Monday morning - and if you do, perhaps it’s time to think about weekend monitoring or an extra pair of hands on your social? Scroll back to Friday evening and respond to those Tweets first, working your way back through to Monday morning. Don’t forget to check if any of the content you scheduled for the weekend had replies or comments and address these if required. Even if your approach to social monitoring means checking in occasionally over the weekend to make sure high priority customer queries are answered, it’s good practice to check again. 2. Hunting and gathering Curate content from your followers. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Twitter is a fantastic source of quality content if you know where to find it - *hint hint... Twitter lists!* Industry professionals and influencers are not hard to find on Twitter. Subscribe to a public Twitter list, or create your own and add influential users to it. Not only are followers and influencers a great source of content (and ideas), but by sharing their posts you’re acknowledging their position in the industry. 3. What’s the buzz? If like all social fanatics you juggle a personal and professional social media life - i.e. you love reading social media tips and how tos but you can’t scroll past a good Buzzfeed quiz - you’ll love this part of the checklist. Like reading the Sunday paper, dedicate at least 30 minutes of your Monday morning to checking out the trending topics. Browse Twitter, did you miss anything? 4. Capture bright ideas If you create and publish your own content, has your Monday morning browse ignited any insightful ideas for blog content this week? Check your editorial schedule to see if there are any topical blogs or news that your audience will be interested in. Remember to keep it relevant to your audience and in line with your brand’s tone of voice. #WhatJayZSaidToSolange may be of personal interest to you, but is it relevant to your Twitter community? 5. Keep the conversation flowing Finally, we reach the last item on your Monday morning checklist. You’ve untangled your Twitter jungle and it’s smooth sailing from here on out. Continue to monitor your Twitter activity throughout the week and whenever you get a moment, remember to chat, chat, chat and be social… after all, that’s what social networking is all about right?

Prioritize your Tweets by answering all queries first. Then move on to the relationship building Tweets! For example, a Tweet saying “@SocialBro you are awesome for Tweet analytics!” doesn’t demand a response, but it’s good to recognize the warm and fuzzies.

After all, love makes the world go round.
