• Use of a twitter hashtag to gather for a specific topic/issue for a specific

amount of time (typically one hour)

• Can be weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and one time.

• Before The Chat- know the time, hashtag and, moderating account.

• Can do the same for professional resources and

Starting your own chat, part 1

• Think through why

• Do you have enough to talk about to do so once, once a month, or

once a week?

– Think about the work required to promote, prep, and moderate

the chat for each of those scenarios

– What happens if you’re busy during a chat? Guest moderator, or

cancel?

• Pick a short, easy-to-distinguish hashtag

• Pick a date and time

• Need a website, or not?

– How will you point people to basic info about the chat?

• Decide if you will always moderator, or if you’ll share moderation duties

– Decide to create a moderator account, or use your own

• Decide how your chat will be run

– How will you identify and pick topics for each chat?

– What are the rules?

– How will you capture/curate content after the chat?
