Social inclusion thus far focused on inclusion of marginalized and weaker groups with reservations, grants, subsidies etc. Sustainability of many of these interventions is in question. Is it not time to include creative class in problem definition to solution implementation???

Empowerment

• Historically large sections of population were excluded from growth, development, prosperity.

• A democratic system based on European concept of equality is now accepted as superior system from human development perspective.

• Democracies responded with reservation, affirmative action.

Consumption

Health depends on food consumption - both quantity and quality matter. India is among the worst performers on this score. Work for food, free rations under public distribution, nutrition improvement of mothers and children are some of the activities.

Social Inclusion and Aadhaar

• By and large, the marginalized or vulnerable groups subsist on the margins of society and are often deprived of access to basic necessities such as, health, education, housing, food, security, etc. owing to their inability to prove identity.

• Inclusion of the vulnerable groups being the summum bonum and metaphorically speaking, the heart and soul of Aadhaar project

Production

• Finding alternate , gainful employment in non agriculture areas in rural areas is a daunting task.

• Traditional avenues of skill clusters, cottage industries, micro and small enterprises are now supplemented with self help groups , social enterprises etc.

Creative class

• All developing countries want to improve quality of life but unfortunately the paths that supported industrialization of west are not sustainable if billions from India and China take that route.

• Sustainability is a big issue. Solution calls for unconventional thinking.

• A large section of society excluded themselves from creative thinking. To address the current and future problems, the youth need to come out of their self excluded zones and unleash their creativity.
