Where did the idea of the fi lm come from? A comedy sketch that

Alice and Steve Oram did at a show called Ealing Live. They

performed it l ive and it went well so they then wrote a short

taster fi lm with a view of getting TV interest. Edgar Wright saw

the taster on Youtube and saw a movie in it.

What is the genre? Black Comedy.

Chris is a caravan fan who takes his girlfriend Tina on a road trip

of his favourite destinations. Events soon conspire against the

couple and their dream caravan holiday takes a wrong turn.

Big Talk studios who are an English fi lm and television

production company produced the fi lm along with Studiocanal ,

Film4 (a British fi lm production company) and Rook Films.

Who else financed the film besides the studio? Film4 and the

BFI film fund.

What was the budget of the film? £9.3 million

Any noticeable stars/writers/directors/producers involved with

the film? It was produced by Edgar Wright who is known for his

three flavours Cornetto trilogy consisting of Hot Fuzz, Shaun of

the Dead and The Worlds End. Nina Park is also another

producer who founded Big Talk productions. Alice Lowe who co

wrote the film is known for her roles in the Garth Marenghi. Amy

Jump and Steve Oram also co wrote the film. It stars the writers

themselves Stever Oram and Alice Lowe. I was directed by Ben

Wheatly who is an English Director of feature films, TV comedy

shows, adverts,and internet viral ads.

When was the film released? November 30 th 2012

What kind of release did it have? Sightseers has an age certificate of 15. It was released in the UK and Republic of Ireland. It was shown on 100 screens in the UK.

Film festivals such as the Puchon International film festival and Mar del Plata film festival.

How were web 2.0 technologies used?

Youtube was used to distribute the trailer to the audience.

Sightseers has its own Facebook page and Twitter page meaning it can attract a larger audience as a lot of people use both these sites.

Has the fi lm won any awards and how have these contributed to the success of the fi lm?

It won the British independent fi lm award for best screenplay.

Empire award in 2013 for Best British Film.

The Peter Sellers Award for comedy for director Edgar Wright at the Evening Standard British Film Awards

The ALFS award at The London Critics Circle Film Awards for Breakthrough British fi lmmaker.

At the Mar del Plata fi lm festival it won best screenplay.

NBR award for top ten independent fi lms

Alice Lowe won the award for best actress at the PuchonInternational Fantastic Film festival.

All these awards have contributed to the success of the fi lm as it shows the fi lm has been successful and so encourages people to go and watch it. The awards are also a form or marketing.
