How effective is the combination of your main production and ancillary text.

As a group we thought a good way to promote an artist would be to create a music video and on top of that create a digital and a website.

Our genre is R&B song, we feel that our digipak suits our genre due to the two pictures we have used to combine together to make something different. The first image captures the sunset with the houses in the distance and you have the main picture on top which is of her sitting on a stair case. We wanted to show the view she sees and the environment she lived in. The reason why we this this was because doing our research we saw that no other artist did exactly what we did, which is why ours is different and better.

Track list

When producing the track list we had to make sure the font and colour was somewhat different to other track list. To make it look like a track list we added a bar code and the label she is signed to. We wanted to make the background image link to our front cover digipak so we took another picture of the sunset in another location.

The inside of the digipak

The inside of the digipak has a picture of the artist and the male artist who is featuring in the song. And another image which is similar to the front cover. The last image has a message for her fans who will buy the digipak. The unfortunate side to this is that we didn’t produce a templet where you can place the CD.

PHOTOSThe reason why our digipak link to our music video is because the digipak contains a picture of Nita Muretzi and as soon as the audience see her they would know who it is about.

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Research

Research- our research consisted of finding out what our age range is, what genre to pick from, how our audience enjoy listen to music either by radio, YouTube, Spotify, iTunes or music channel. To find out these information and more we created a survey monkey on a website and sent a link around by email to years 12/13 students, at this point we knew who our focused group was (16+).

On top of the questionnaires we did music videos analysis by doing this I was able to see the different way artistes used there lyrics to link in with the misé-en-scene, props and cinematography to be able to tell a story to the audience. I searched up three different music videos on YouTube using a PC. Youtube helped our group to get a better understanding of music video in our genre and this has helped us as a group to create narrative music video. One of them was waterfall by TLC, hate it or love it by The Game ft 50cent and Price tag by Jessie J. For each of the music videos I spoke about the misé-en-scene, cinematography, editing, and sound. Wix has allowed me to get all my research on my blog which made it look like a convincing music video.

At the start of our project we chose to do Jon Bellion who is a pop and hip-hop artist, we chose to do The wonder years, which is a song produced by him. All the research and information for this genre had been on our blogs however while starting to film we started to loose interest in the song and we didn't have enough people to cast in the music video and finding a location which had suitable scene for our music video. In the end we made a decision to change our music video to something we will enjoy producing

Research - History

Before starting anything we had to research the history of music and how it has changed. First music video was first broadcasted on MTV’s on August 1st 1981. Frist song which was published was ‘The Buggles’ with the song ‘Video Killed The Radio Star’.Doing this Research gave me ideas as to what to created a music video and how I would learn from this. Following from this I had to analyse music videos. I used YouTube to search up the three songs I wanted to analyse and find out how each component of music video came together to produce a music video, for this to happen we needed a narrative and scenery.

Research- Digi-pak

Whe producing our digi-pak we needed to get ideas so we used the internet (google) to see how other digi-pak looked like and how we could make ours different.
