Equipment list

• High quality camera• Wide variety of dark eye shadows• Eyeliner • Red lipstick• Dark clothing• Props such as hats or glasses• Spare makeup to top up during shooting• Props to connote the rock ‘n’ roll theme such as a cigarette or alcohol• Simple backgrounds• Stairs • Hairbrush• Umbrella for rain • Possible lights to manipulate the lighting?

Shooting • I arrived at my model’s house at 12:00am to start

preparation.• She started with a natural, clear face and wet hair

so we had a clear canvas to work with. • Because the main colour scheme of my magazine

is red, white and black, we decided to use dark smoky eye makeup and bright red lips, but without looking too gothic.

• We left the house at 2:00pm and walked to Rosehill and arrived at 2:10pm. We needed to find a secluded area with plain backgrounds such as metal or brickwork so we chose to use a residential car park behind a row of shops. This is where we took the majority of the portrait photos and most of the landscape ones.

• I let her be natural and choose her own poses, so the photos look playful and fun. This is suitable for my magazine because my target audience are young and wouldn’t want ‘serious’ photos.

• We then got the bus to Sutton and walked along the high street for inspiration, until we decided the stairs outside would look good, so we went to some stairs belonging to flats, which we asked permission to use by a resident.

• I used Griselda smoking in these pictures because it adds to the rebellious rock & roll theme that my magazine is based on. However, I don’t know whether these are too controversial to use for a public magazine.

Casting • I chose to use Griselda Bajraktari

because she has a very individual look. Also, because she is my friend, she was easily available to model. Griselda’s skin is clear and her features are very distinct, so not a lot of editing will need to be done. She is also photogenic, and comfortable in front of the camera, so looks confident in the photos. Because she is from Albania, she has dark hair, big eyes and big lips that I needed for my magazine, and she also suits black, which is one of the main colours that I needed to use on the front cover.
