ALTERNATIVE FUELS
INTRODUCTION
APPROXIMATELY 90% OF OUR ENERGY
REQUIREMENTS ARE MET BY FOSSIL FUELS
STUDIES REVEAL THAT AT

HYDROGEN AS A FUEL
Biodiesel refers to a vegetable oil- or animal fat-based diesel fuel consisting of long-chain
alkyl (methyl, ethyl, or propyl) esters. Biodiesel is typically made by chemically reacting lipids
(e.g., vegetable oil, animal fat (tallow[1][2])) with an alcohol producing fatty acid esters.
BIODIESEL
Biodiesel can be used in pure form (B100) or may
be blended with petroleum diesel at any concentration
in most injection pump diesel engines. New
extreme high-pressure (29,000 psi) common rail
engines have strict factory limits of B5 or B20,
depending on manufacturer
BIODIESEL AS A FUEL
Ethanol fuel is ethanol (ethyl alcohol), the same type of alcohol found in alcoholic beverages. It is most often used as a motor fuel, mainly as a biofuel additive for gasoline.
Corn ethanol is ethanol produced from corn . Corn ethanol is produced by means of ethanol fermentation and distillation.

ETHANOL AS A FUEL
Biomass is all biologically-
produced matter based in carbon,
hydrogen and oxygen.
Most important source for energy
supplied by agriculture.
BIOMASS
AS DOMESTIC FUEL FOR USE IN BOILERS
USES OF BIOMASS
