*Video conceptThis music video has been made so that is completely narrative and there is no artist representation or performance. The music video has a powerful narrative which highlights the difficulties of being gay in this society. Throughout the video there are jump cuts between the couple and the danger that is rapidly approaching them. As the couple start to realise that they are in danger they run away and there is juxtaposition between them and their chasers. The video does not just focus on the negatives of being gay (being hunted by a group of homophobes), they also show the powerful love that the couple have for each other. This shows the audience the passion they have for each other and it shows them it is not easy just to split up because it is safer. The song take me to church is soul song which made the charts in 2015. this song has similar stature to the song we will be using for our music video ‘Can’t pretend’ by Tom Odell. This song goes with convention by making a powerful narrative which goes with the indie pop genre.

*Camera & editing

For whole of this music video the director has chosen to place the film in black and white. This shows the audience that this event has already happened and it is part of our history. The dark colours also shows the evil that is within the world and what the couple have to overcome. In the top right shot we can see the homophobic mob as the pursue the gay couple. It is a low angle shot looking up at the leader. This shot emphasises the dangerous nature of him as he is overpowering the shot with a dark background. In the next shot we see the gay man running away. Here the editing is fast paced to show the frantic nature of the situation as they desperately try and get away. The shot is positioned on the character and looking behind him, this shows the audience that our character is having to constantly look behind him as he is running. They have close ups to show the emotion.

*Representations of the character & artistIn this video they find innovative ways to

represent the character emotions and desires. In the first shot we can see the couple looking up at the sky watching a plane fly away. This symbolises their desires to fly away and leave all their troubles behind. In this society the couple have to try and hide their relationship away from the world. The director symbolises this by giving the couple a box to hide all their feeling away from society. The troubles begin when the homophobic mob find their box with their secrets. There is then a big bonfire where they are burning the box. This shows the audience that society is trying to destroy what they are. This could be s symbolises to show that the mob kill the couple to get rid of them. and years ago this could have been a real possibility.
