ABOUT PRAMOD MAHAJAN

Pramod Vyankatesh Mahajan (30 October 1949 – 3 May 2006) was an Indian

politician. He was one of the second generation leaders of

the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and although he was fairly popular in his home state of Maharashtra in western India.

He was a member of the Rajya Sabha and a General Secretary of his party.

INCIDENTBACKGROUND

On April 22, 2006 BJP General Secretary Pramod Mahajan was shot by his younger brother Pravin at his Worli residence.

The reason behind this was family dispute in mumbai after battling for life for 12 days .He finally gave up .

SEQUENCE OF EVENTS Pravin left his home in Thane's Jhangi Apartment's

at 5:30 am. Pramod had bought the house for him 10 years

ago.

He was carrying his 9 mm Browning pistol with him.Pravin drove to Pramod Mahajan's Worli house-

entering the 15th floor flat at 7:30 am.Pramod was reading the newspaper when his

brother walked in.The two had a heated argument, overheard by the

neighbours. His wife and children were with him.

Pravin then shot Pramod at least three times at point blank range - hitting his liver, pancreas and intestines.

Pramod was rushed to Hinduja hospital by a doctor who lived in the apartment complex.

Pravin walked out of the house and surrendered at the Worli Police Station.

It's believed that Pravin then left only to surrender some time later at the Worli Police station where he was arrested under section 307.

Pravin, who had used the .32 caliber Browning revolver, had surrendered before Worli police soon after grievously injuring his elder brother.

Three bullets, which were removed from the body of Pramod Mahajan during the post-mortem which has sent to forensic laboratory at Kalina, Santa Cruz.

Forensic investigation of crime and scientific services reported nature of the white powder. And confirmed they were fired from the same revolver.

The court took into consideration other circumstantial evidences as well as the ballistic expert's opinion.

The doctors have also taken samples of all the organs, including kidney, lung and liver of Mahajan's body for microscopic pathalogy test.

The microscopic pathalogy test would be conducted .It will take 10 to 15 days for the final reports to conclusively point out the cause of death .

Pravin Mahajan, who was convicted for killing his brother, BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, has died in a Mumbai hospital.

Pravin, who was serving a life sentence in Nashik jail, was admitted to Jupiter Hospital in Mumbai after a suspected brain haemorrhage.

He shot Pramod at his home, then walked calmly into a police station nearby, handed over his gun.

He said, by the way of introduction, "I am Pravin...I killed Pramod.

During the court hearings of the Pramod Mahajan murder case, he showed little remorse over killing his sibling.

In court, he claimed that Pramod raised him "like a pet dog.

WHAT HAPPENED TO PRAVINPravin was sentenced to lifetime imprisonment in

2007. Pravin, who was serving a life sentence in

Nashik jail, was admitted to Jupiter Hospital in Mumbai.

Subsequently, Pravin died of brain haemorrhage in 2010.

In his statement to the police, Pravin, 46, said he shot Pramod because the latter often humiliated him and refused to help him in his business.
