Q2 How does your media product represent particular social groups?

By Toby Orchard

Our CharacterWe wanted to make sure that we got the point across that our Character is social inept, we have done by not introducing another character. We have based are film around the very dangerous sport Mountain Biking which is commonly done with a partner due to the linked risk. By not including and extra Character it help build up the tention that we wanted whilst still show that he is social inept. Also by including only one it show that he is a very controling character as he want things done his way. This is shown when we used shot of him carring out maintance to the bike, this give a contrast as well as a link to the the Character two side, that he is very controling and OCD with the maintance shot, which shows that he does not link being around other people. We also wanted to show the audience that they are watching a person that knows what he is doing and I think we showed this throught the maintance shots, the fact that he is very methodical when doing the maintance with out any mistake real reinforces this point. We also want to put a twsit into the film and we have done this by once he get on th ebike all his inhibitions go away and you lose all his stick to rule nature this is show when he passes the Warning sign. We also wanted to link it to 127 hours where he has done it a million times that think nothing will go wrong and then it does.

Mountain BikingWe wanted to make are Character like your normal Mountain Biker show that he is taken seriously and not for a laughing stock. We have done this by using the Mountain Biking Helmet, Jersey and Pants, with all the well known Mountain Biking sponser, like Monster and GoPro again this will will help the audience to take him seriously and related to him as a Montion Biker. Also the common conception of Mountain Biker are that they are mad and what to push the limited each time do bigger and scarier thing every time. This is done by the fact that he ignores the sign and does down the dangerous trail. To be able to do the top trails and improve as a rider you have to have to top gear, the is why Mountain Biking is known as an expensive sport. Looking at most Mountain Biking video you will always see someone fall off that is where we go off the rail and go against convention, which I guess could be seen as risk as this would not porteagh your common Mountain Biking.

Aron Ralston (127 Hours)

• We related heavily to this film as 127 Hours is all about Aron Ralston drives to Utah's Canyonlands National Park for a day of canyoneering. On foot, he befriends hikers Kristi and Megan and shows them an underground pool. After parting ways with the hikers, Ralston enters Blue John Canyon through a slot canyon. He slips and falls; a boulder falls and traps his arm against the wall. Failing to move the boulder, he calls for help, but no one is around. He begins recording a video diary on his camera and using the larger blade on his pocket multi-tool to attempt to chip away at the boulder. He also rations his water and food. After reading this you can tell that there is a relationship between these two films. Your can relate Aron Ralston to our reckless, fearless. But there is also main thing that are different about the two Charactors Aron does not wear a helmet in any of the film, which show what kind of person he is
