• Aggregate and share content from front lines, blogs, social networks , mainstream media, etc.

• Curators are like editors because they select the content

• Verification and accuracy are key

• Transparency is crucial

• With shrinking newsrooms, curation is key to serving our readers better

• Sometimes content accompanies a story and sometimes it serves as the story

What is Storify?

• Social network that allows journos to curate stories using social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

• Create account at www.storify.com

• Once signed in, you can create a story

• Click the green square at the upper right beside your name

• Click on the source you want to search ie. Instagram

• Enter hashtag, search term etc. into search field, hit enter

• Click on the photo (tweet, etc.) you want and drag it across to your story area

• You can click on the space between your items type whatever text you want

• Continue building your story via the various sources (Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Tumblr, etc.)

• Hit “save now” as you go along

• When you’re done building your story, click on the blue “Publish” button

• You will get a prompt asking you if you’re sure you want to publish your story

• If you’re sure, click “Publish story”

• Curate around topic (Tom Wolf, Tom Corbitt)

• Embed on Website or blog

• Once you set up what you want to appear on your front page, you can move posts around

• You can “freeze” a post in a position for a certain amount of time or until you decide to unfreeze it

• You can edit posts and add tags

• Other buttons include remove, repost, etc.

• On the Template setup page, click the Embed option toward the top

• Click the first date and then copy the embed code to the right. There’s also a link to “old code” near the embed code that gives you an embed code that you can manipulate by size. The old code must be used for FlipSide.

• Click Next Step – add writers. Select people from the list if you need to add people as writers on the Scribble.

• Click Next Step – Syndication. On this page, toward the upper right, just click Skip this step. It will take you directly to the ScribbleLIVE blog you just set up.

• If you click Social on the left navigation and Twitter, you can add hashtags or users to pull in automatically.
