I asked my survey audience how often they would buy a certain magazine.

12% said they would buy it weekly40% said they would buy it monthly48% said they would buy it quarterly

These results show that the majority of my audience would purchase my magazine quarterly. However because there was such little difference between monthly and quarterly I am going to produce my magazine monthly as it is more suitable for a music magazine.

Audience Research

When surveying my audience for research, I found that the majority of my replies from the survey showed that the majority of them were female.

58.8% were female.23.5% were male.17.6% were unsure or found their gender complicated.

However, despite my gender was mostly female, I am still basing my magazine as a unisex magazine as my music genre interests both genders.

When asking for the age of the audience I found that the majority was aged 15-20.

78.6% was aged 15-20.Less than 10% was aged 21-30.14.3% was aged 41%.

This means that my audience is relatively young. This matches my music genre as it more likely appeals to younger people. This means that I will have to make my magazine appeal to younger people.

My top 5 popular answers when I asked what music genres people like (multiple choice) were:

R&BHip-HopDanceHousePop

My least popular answers were rock, classical and metal.

This means that I should mainly focus my magazine around the genres that people are interested in.

For my magazine I am going to base it around R&B and Hip-Hop as these are two of the most popular answers.

When I asked my audience what magazine name was more appealing my most chosen answers was Crave. This means that it will be the chosen name for my magazine as it was the most chosen answer but quite some gap.

When I asked my audience what giveaways they would prefer to have from a music magazine, most people said either 3 months Apple music subscription or 3 months Spotify Premium. The least chosen answers were a memory stick, beanie and poster.

However, despite it not being the most chosen answer, I am going to use Gavin Dhillon’s mixtape as my giveaway in my magazine as I feel it fits the genre of the music. This means it may be liked by my audience.

When I asked what people expected to see in a magazine, majority of the people replied that they expect to see upcoming artists, interviews, giveaways and interviews with artists. This means that in my magazine I need to make sure that I include all four of these things so that my magazine is appealing to my target audience. This means that I will get more people purchase my magazine.
