Justin Drew Bieber is a Canadian singer who had started his

journey towards fame through the use of Web 2.0. He posted videos

of himself singing on YouTube, from there his talent was

recognised by Scooter Braun. He was later signed to RBMG. Since then he has come a long way and

released numerous albums as well as becoming a big name in the

genre of pop. His fashion sense is very well suited to the genres of pop and R&B even though it has

changed over the years. In his earlier years of fame he had a

hairstyle which became popular on a global scale. His fan-base are called ‘beliebers’ and are mainly teenage girls however his recent music has matured with him and this helps to target a wider age

range. He also released a movie in 2011 called ‘never say never.’ This gave his fans a true insight into his life as well as creating a personal connection with them.

Katy Perry is an American singer who began her career in 2001

however, only managed to become successful in getting her music noticed in 2008. Since then

she has received lots of recognition for her music and has become a global sensation in the

genre of pop. Her style is very bright and colourful and she often wears outfits related to items of food. She likes to incorporate the

themes of humour and fantasy into her wardrobe making every

outfit fun and unique. This represents the fun nature of the pop genre really well. Her fan-base are called ‘katycats’ and

consist of people of all different ages as her music is suitable to a

wide age range. She connects very well to her fans and shows a lot of love towards them through social media as well as her own

concerts. In 2012 she released a movie called ‘Katy Perry: Part of me.’ It was focussed on her life

during her tour.

Demi Lovato has risen to fame not only as a singer but as an actress

and model too. The American star began he career as a child

actress. She then began to work with Disney channel and in 2008 she starred in the movie ‘camp

rock’ as well as releasing her first album which was a success. In

2009 she was given her own show on Disney channel called ‘sonny

with a chance.’ Demi has had lots of success in her music career due to her talent but also the fact that

she was associated with Disney and so her music was promoted to a large audience. Her music

talks about her difficulties in the past such as being bullied, having a father with a drinking problem and having mental health issues. All these things have affected her

in life and her music often features themes of staying strong

and being happy with who you are. Her style is usually on trend

however she always tries different hair colours.

Lady Gaga is an American singer as well as actress. She presents

self-empowering messages through her work and she is

commonly known for her extreme sense of fashion. She often

expresses controversial ideas in her music videos and even in

some of her outfits. Lady Gaga has had huge success with her

music and is now one of the best selling musicians of all time. Lady Gaga’s fan-base are called ‘little monsters’ whose symbol is an

outstretched claw. She connects well with her fans through social

media, building a sincere relationship with them. She created ‘littlemonsters.com’

which is a website completely dedicated to her fans. She also

launched the ‘born this way foundation’ which is an

organisation working to help the youth on issues such as self-

confidence, well-being and anti-bullying, mentoring and career

development.
