Narcissism

• Narcissism is when some one is fascinated in them selves a common word for this would be vain or vanity.

• Within Gaga’s video telephone we can see a specific element of narcissism especially through her costume as this is revealing this not only shows her confidence within herself but also her vanity of herself. Another example of this is within her dancing, this is very sexual and provocative giving the element of narcissism.

• Gaga is a main artist who uses Narcissism a lot throughout many of her videos.

Intertexual Referencing and homage• Intertextual Referencing Is when a music video

directly references to another piece of media. • Within Gaga’s video Telephone she references to

Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill a lot. Pulp Fiction is brought in as the opening credits are similar. Kill Bill is also brought in through the car she is in this can also be seen as homage which means respectful imitation . In my opinion the directing is much like Quentin Tarrontinos directing showing a link and the intertextual referencing.

Bricolage

• Bricolage is when you borrow a form of media. • Within Gaga’s Telephone video, she is acting

out as a 50’s housewife and when she adds poison to the food, this indicated her feelings on women's rights. This also shows off the stereotypes of women.

How this will help me…• Form learning and looking into this task, I have

found out some ideas for my own music video, as I am more aware of postmodern theories and also some standard theories.

• I can also use references and copy clips from other forms of media because it promotes that artist and allows them to connect to the audience.
