MYTH: LIMIT YOURHASHTAGS TO 3-11 TOTAL
• Using hashtags drastically increases your Instagram reach.
• You can put up to 30 hashtags per post. Passing on the opportunity to be seen by more prospects is depriving you of more views and interaction.
• Put them in the first comment (not the caption) and they will become hidden.
REAL TRUTHS:
Use only 3-11 hashtags. More makes you look spammy..

Engagement is key to growth. To engage, reply to comments on your posts.
MYTH:
• Engagement IS key to growth.
• But replying to comments only scratches the surface.
• Spend time liking and commenting on images posted by your target market.
• Find hashtags your target market uses and like/comment on their photos.
• Make this a daily practice and watch your following soar.

MYTH: BEAUTIFUL PHOTOSARE REQUIRED TO GAIN A BIGFOLLOWING
• Images are only one puzzle piece in a big Instagram picture.
• Surely you’ve seen Instagram users with mega-followers and crappy photos?
• This isn’t permission to use bad photos; I still urge you to use the absolute best you can.
• Post the best you can for now and continue to improve your photos.
• But don’t allow a lack of skills keep you from using the platform.
• Remember: Photos are only one part of an Instagram strategy.

To grow your followers, focus on improving your images.

MYTH: INSTAGRAM IS ASPONTANEOUS APPLICATION
Instagram is an spontaneous app. Get inspired, shoot, edit and post immediately.
MYTH:
• Planning is required for a successful Instagram feed.
• Good feeds consider aspects such as on-brand colors and a cohesive style.
• Good marketers consider post timing.
• Those “desk shots” were carefully laid out. Nobody’s desk ever looks that perfect. ;-)
• Multiple photo takes may be required to get one image worthy of posting.

MYTH: INSTAGRAM IS FORBRAND AWARENESS
• Selling on Instagram is a great possibility!
• Search the hashtag #shopmyclosetand you’ll discover plenty of users are successfully selling clothes.
• You can make sales, too. • Don’t be hesitant to use a call to
action both in your posts and bio.• Convert followers to your email list
for products requiring a longer sales funnel.
• Brand awareness is good – but sales are even better!
REAL TRUTHS:
Use Instagram to create brand awareness. But it isn’t for sales.
