What motivates you?
1. Write something you loved doing at the top of the page. You can think about your age ranges – pre-school, primary, mid-school, high school, college years and what you loved doing during each of those years and make a list first. Something you loved doing should be: with what you spent any available time you had, and lost track of time and all worries while doing it.
2. Describe your fantastic career, take it to the limit, don’t hold back.3. Write what you see happen 5 years later.4. Write what you see happen 10 years later.5. Expand list above by saying “What I loved most about…” on the left margin.
Write the insight you gained from each section in the margins (what your writing taught you about yourself). This you can do for each section one by one, or you can lump them together as shown in example.
6. Repeat above steps for each item in your list in 1. Now, review “What I loved most about…” column for all your stories. Find out the recurring themes in your stories – these give insights into “what motivates you”. You need to choose a career that fits these motivations for you to be happy and successful.

Double Checking Motivations Meet people who work in the business you want to
work in, and see if you like them. You will spend many more hours with them than you will with your family and friends. If you don’t like being with them, it will be difficult for you to be at work with them…
Use Amazon.com, a bookstore, Google etc. to find books and magazines on the subject of your business and see if you like reading them, if you get excited reading them, if you get in the “flow” reading them…
