Challenges in Vocational training of Rural Youth

ASTS,pipri Wardha 24

Problems Solutions at GVTNP Rural Youth More busy with Livelihood and Farm related Activities

-Training Timing flexible(morning /evening)-Mostly in less busy season (Post Harvest)- Training in Villages (Moving Extension centre –other activities also carried out)

Trainees not interested in Theoretical Learning

- Modules designed on Psychomotor Skills to be accomplished.

Rural Youth more shy and with less communication skill

-Credits given for bringing repair and maintenance work-Mobile Camp- Exhibitions

Assessment and Evaluation Process -To be carried by skilled and successful entrepreneur in same field- More Credits given on doing things by hand

Less knowledge about market -Material and Labor cost to be evaluated by trainee for different jobs / tasks- Visit to wholesale market

Page 26: Methodology to address Opportunities and Threats in Vocational Training of Rural Youth

Methodology to be Adopted

• Problems to be converted into Solutions (solar drier, Energizer)

• Need based training – motor pump repairing in more irrigated area

• Working with other NGO – You support for diesel engines on subsidy, we shall train on its regular maintenance and repairing

• Transfer of Technology – Let them use first• Rural Youth should find solutions – Vocational Trades to be

designed• Urban Amenities at Village level – Dish TV

ASTS,pipri Wardha 26

Page 27: Methodology to address Opportunities and Threats in Vocational Training of Rural Youth

Threats in Vocational Training of Rural Youth• Many Times mere formalities (Govt. Flagship Project) - Forward linkage to be ensured (PMKVY , Community College)

• No involvement from trainee side hence more drop out - At least 10 % of the expenses as security deposit

• More concentration on certificate / course completion -Competencies to be achieved should be finalized and assessed by third party (sector skill council)

• Same type of skill development in same area - Restricted for 6-12 month according to area size

• No vertical up gradation in skill Development and acknowledgement - National vocational Education Quality Framework ASTS,pipri Wardha 27
