How to Blog THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO SETTING UP A WEBSITE
A Word From Elaine There are TONS of reasons you might want to
set up a blog or website. You might want an online presence to grow
your business. You might want to create an online community of
like-minded people. And if you are an app developer like me, you
will need a website that you can link to when you upload your apps
to Apple and Google. The world has changed massively in 10 years.
Remember when trying to find out something meant either pulling out
your heavy phone book, or dusting off those old encyclopedias you
had at home? Right now, you dont get judged on how great your work
is, how many clients you have, or even how great your customer
service. Today, people judge you using one method GOOGLE.
A Word From Elaine Imagine there are three computer shops in
your city. You need a new laptop but you have no idea which shop is
the best. What do you do? You google the three shops of course. 1.
OCarrolls Technology only has a few listings in online shop guides
and no website. 2. SuperTech has a website but it looks pretty bad
and hasnt been updated in years. 3. CleanTech has a great website,
they write regularly about PC, Mac and mobile tips and they display
a lot of their products on their site.
A Word From Elaine In all probability youll visit the one with
the best website when you drive into town. If you havent built a
website before it can all seem a bit daunting so here is my handy
guide to build a website to showcase your apps, to advertise your
business, to start a blog - EXACTLY like how I built this website.
The good news is: 1. Setting up a new website is EASY. 2. You do
not need to be a programmer. 3. Once youre website is up and
running, I have a great resource to help you keep up to speed with
any small changes and updates you will need to do.
Website Name Buying A Domain Name
Website Name So first up, you need to buy a name. I usually buy
a .com name as its what most people are used to. If you want your
website focused on one country then it can make sense to buy a
domain for that specific country. You can buy a domain usually for
one year or more and they are pretty cheap. The fun part is
thinking about what name you want! You can check out what domain
names are available here. WordPress is one of the most popular (and
best!) software programs you can use to make your website. Its
really easy to use, and its free. All the websites Ive made have
used wordpress, including this one.
Website Hosting Buying Server Space
Website Hosting Next, once you have decided on your website
name, you are going to need some space on a server where you can
put all the files, pictures, blog, videos, etc that will be on your
website. This is called hosting. I use doteasy for all of my
website hosting and I can say they are really good, my sites rarely
go down and in 10 years I have never had a problem with them. I
always get unlimited hosting with doteasy, as this supports
everything that wordpress needs to work correctly. Right now, for
$48 you can get unlimited hosting for one year and a free domain
name. Thats pretty good value.
How To Set Up Wordpress Its Easier Than You Think!
How To Set Up Wordpress Once you buy your name & hosting,

Panel.
On the next page, scroll right down to the bottom and click on
the WordPress button. Then click on the blue INSTALL button.
