4. Agreed Action and AccountabilityThis involves establishing goals, identifying the action steps, and determining a timeline for each step. Agreed Accountability supports the person to follow through on their plan and commitments so they are successful in reaching their goals.
• Establish the goal. Ask what they want to do and when they will do it.
• Clarify the steps. Writing down a plan increases the likelihood of achievement.
• Confirm their commitment. On a scale of 1-10 (1– it is not happening to a 10 – consider it done) —what is their level of commitment.
• Express your belief in them.
• Determine wanted follow up—how can you support?
5. ICUICU acknowledgment, as in “I see you” is to look beyond the actions of a person to “who” they were being in order to accomplish their goal. It’s about strengths, characteristics, qualities.
