The FIVE CORE COACHING SKILLS

1. “You’re the Expert” Questions“You’re the Expert” Questions are open ended and not leading. They create more clarity, insight possibilities and commitment.

2. Heart-Centered Listening™Heart-Centered Listening™ is listening from your heart with laser focus and intent to hear and understand what is being said and felt by the speaker.

The FIVE CORE COACHING SKILLS

4. Agreed Action and AccountabilityThis involves establishing goals, identifying the action steps, and determining a timeline for each step. Agreed Accountability supports the person to follow through on their plan and commitments so they are successful in reaching their goals.

• Establish the goal. Ask what they want to do and when they will do it.

• Clarify the steps. Writing down a plan increases the likelihood of achievement.

• Confirm their commitment. On a scale of 1-10 (1– it is not happening to a 10 – consider it done) —what is their level of commitment.

• Express your belief in them.

• Determine wanted follow up—how can you support?

5. ICUICU acknowledgment, as in “I see you” is to look beyond the actions of a person to “who” they were being in order to accomplish their goal. It’s about strengths, characteristics, qualities.

List below qualities that could be used as part of ICU acknowledgment:
