Entrepreneurs typically love what they do and operate best at full-speed with a busy plate, but
the anticipation of the upcoming stress of a workday can be jarring while in a relaxing
environment, like your home.
So how do we change our weekends in order to shut down the Sunday Night Blues?
Whether it’s a classic fictional novel, an inspiring CEOs memoir, or a section you missed from yesterday’s
newspaper, reading should always been woven into nighttime routines, especially Sunday.
It’s also a great time to catch up on projects, expand your knowledge of the industry, or even catch yourself up on
your Twitter timeline. Known to boost brain power, increase intelligence, and more, it’s no wonder some successful
leaders block off their reading time as “non negotiable.”

Success is only best shared with those you love, and most successful CEOs and entrepreneurs are motivated by their spouses, children, and family. Smart individuals realize that weeks can easily get clogged up with impromptu meetings,
long conference calls, late nights, and early mornings, and make the most of their weekends to get in some quality family time.
Sunday nights are a great way to kickoff the week bonding with loved ones, motivating yourself to work hard for those you love.
FAMILY TIME
While most people use the weekend as an excuse to cheat on their diets or take a break from their exercise routine, the best way to start off your week right is by eating right and staying
active on the weekends.
Packing your belly full of healthy meals and keeping the cork on the Pinot Noir will help you wake up feeling more energized
and ready to tackle the day. Releasing endorphins is a great way to get pumped for the week ahead as well as sweat out the
toxins brought on from the stress of the week before.
HEALTH IS WEALTH
During the week, personal emails, texts, and calls are sometimes pushed aside for more time sensitive work matters. Use a half hour
or so on Sunday nights to catch up on emails from your sister across the country, respond to texts from your Dad, and call your
grandma to wish her a happy birthday.
With a few hours left (2-4) before bedtime, turn off your phone(s), tablet, and computer, set your alarm, and don’t think about work
communications. The email will still be there in 10 hours, and your response will still be timely, so give your brain a chance to take it
easy for a little bit.
PLUG IN, UNPLUG
When your family is gathered around the TV watching the latest HBO drama, the dishes are cleaned, and the dog is walked, take a few quiet moments to
reflect on your feelings, especially if you’re beginning to feel anxious about the upcoming week.
Writing your thoughts down can be a great way to sort out an issue or see things from a new perspective; “it’s a catharsis to get it out on paper…It’s like
flushing a toilet: you get it out on paper and you have flushed your system out.”
And after reflection, allow yourself time to simply relax and recharge both mind and body. From meditation to massage, to merely getting a good night’s sleep,
relaxation can be like fuel for both body and mind.
REFLECT AND RELAX
No matter how great or boring a weekend you’ve had, and whether or not your Monday morning meetings is creating
major stress for you, stay positive. The workweek is about to begin whether we like it or not, and ending our weekends on a
high note by practicing the power of positive thinking and reflecting on positive, motivating experiences will get you in
the right mindset to begin a productive week.
END IT WITH A SMILE
