Development of Library of Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters in Vodňany

About FFPW library Branch of Academic Library of USB in Vodňany provides specialized library and information services to faculty students and staff and to disseminate information to fisheries, aquaculture,hydrobiology, ichthyology and related sciences. Its collection includes over 20,000 items. Books, journals, reports etc. are deposit in storage, to find use Library Catalogue and lists ofsubscription journals on library websites or card catalogue in the library of Faculty of fisheries and protection of waters USB. Library loans out-side most documents.Library collects and archives Czech and foreign print and electronic journals. Many titles of journals are unique in Czech Republic. Library collection of journals is as well valuable for herintegrity. Library subscribes some journals over 60 years (Aquaculture, Rybářství). Library cooperates with foreign institutes, with which maintained interlibrary exchange of documents .The library preserves and provides access to interesting book collections. E. K. Balon Library was donated by Canadian ichthyologist and writer prof. Eugen K. Balon (1930-2013). AbsolonLibrary is collection of books from personal library of Czech archaeologist prof. Karel Absolon (1877-1960). Prague Library is historical collection of books from the former branch of ResearchInstitute of Fish Culture and Hydrobiology in Prague and Dol near Libčice.Significant donations enriched the library collection in years 2014-2015. Limnologist RNDr. Petr Obrtlík and freshwater biologist prof. Vladimír Sláde ček donated their personal bookcollections. Complete personal collection of books and documents was donated by researcher RNDr. Tomislav Petr . Petr’s Library contains valuable publications of fisheries, freshwaterbiology, water management and other related fields from all continents. The library provides interlibrary loans, reference and information services.

Library cooperation in CzechLibrary cooperation in CzechRepublicCzech libraries cooperate in particular on theinterlibrary loan service. ILL system in the CzechRepublic is defined by § 14 of Act 257/2001 onlibraries and providing public information andlibrary services. The library has a duty to conveyit to the user, even if the document does not ownin its collections. Interlibrary loan andinformation services the library is obliged toprovide free of charge. For providing a copy of thedocument is in the context of inter-libraryreprographic services requested library may askreimbursement of costs incurred. Founders oflibraries may ask reimbursement of the cost oftransport of the document.University libraries also cooperate by meansAssociation of Libraries of Czech Universities.ALCU promotes, develops and supportsuniversity libraries in Czech Republic.Association advocates university libraries andfacilitates their negotiations with informationproviders in order to improve opportunities forcost-efficient purchase and licensing of electronicinformation resources.The important goal is also to supportcollaboration and partnership (in order to helpcontinuous advancement and effectiveness oflibrary activities and services, education andlearning, information literacy activities, etc.) onboth national and international levels.
