CASE STUDY EL PASEO FASHION WEEK 2013
Paseo Fashion Week is the West Coast’s premier fashion event. The event showcases the newest collections from top designers and cutting edge, emerging West Coast designers, with an attendance of more than 13,000 international patrons experiencing the event throughout the week.
For their 8th annual event in 2013, the organizers were looking to execute what was akin to a New York Fashion Week-size event in a tent in the middle of the California desert, staying within budget. In order to re-create the glitz and glitter of an affair of that caliber, Paseo Fashion Week turned to DPS Corporate.
To create an immersive fashion environment, DPS brought in extra video panels, built dedicated
staging, produced a custom light show and created an enhanced audio environment.
To create a cutting edge video solution, DPS Corporate took produced content, which was projected
on large video walls, tailored for each designer. DPS’ staff personally met with each designer, using
their content to show their personal vision. The 22’ foot square video wall displayed each designer’s
brand during their show plus adapting to the shades of the collection and reflecting the color of
each piece.
The event had requested a longer, narrower runway, which posed lighting issues. To compensate, DPS integrated a customized LED system which not only allowed the creation of an heightened lighting environment, but also cut costs substantially. DPS fashioned a cleaner runway lighting experience with color options to accentuate the clothing coming down the runway.
To enhance the audio environment, DPS implemented a customized high-end audio system. The
result being every seating section had its own system, instead of one giant PA at one end, thus
creating a clearer, more immersive sound environment without being overpowering.
The participating fashion designers expressed this was the most creative and professional production execution they had ever seen for this event, and Susan Stein, Paseo Fashion Week Fashion Director and Palm Springs Life Fashion Editor stated, “Perfect. Simply perfect. Thank you DPS!”.
