Housekeeping items
The purpose of this meeting is to explain service changes effective Monday, May 5, 2014.
Silence all cell phones.
Be considerate of meeting attendees and COTA staff.
When it is your turn to make a comment or ask a question about COTA’s service changes, remain at your seat and we will call upon you.
Comments and questions are limited to two minutes per person.
Participants are encouraged to complete comment cards.
Ask one question at a time so the appropriate COTA staff member may address your comment.

COTA modifies service three times per year: First Monday of:

Line 1 Cleveland (Weekday) Service is now available between Downtown and SR-161 at a 12
minute frequency. Fewer trips will travel north of SR-161. Travel times have been adjusted to reflect this change.
Line 2 N. High (Weekday) To adjust for changes in student ridership during the summer, a
seasonal schedule is now available. Travel times and trip start times are modified to allow faster travel times through OSU’s campus.
Line 2 N. High (Sunday) Travel times are adjusted to improve on-time performance.

Line 3 W. Mound/Northwest Blvd. (All Days) Bus Stop Service Improvement Project
Line 4 Indianola (All Days) Travel times are adjusted to improve on-time performance.
Line 4 Parsons (All Days) Travel times are adjusted to improve on-time performance.
Line 4 Indianola (Saturday) Frequency of service is stretched slightly to improve on-time
performance.

Line 6 Sullivant/Mt. Vernon (All Days) Bus Stop Service Improvement Project

Line 10 E. Broad (Weekday) On select trips, travel times are adjusted to improve on-time
performance. One additional evening trip is provided going to The Limited.

Line 12 McKinley/Fields (Saturday and Sunday) Alignment is changed to travel
between Downtown and COTA’s McKinley Avenue facility rather than between Downtown and COTA’s Fields Avenue facility. Buses will travel east on McKinley, south on Souder, east on Gay, south on Davis, east on Broad, south on Third, east on State, north on Fourth, west on Broad, north on Souder, and west on McKinley returning to the station.

Line 16 E. Long (Weekday and Saturday) Travel times are adjusted to improve on-time performance.
Line 16 S. High (Weekday and Saturday) Travel times are adjusted to improve on-time performance.
Line 18 Kenny (Weekday) To adjust for changes in student ridership during the summer, a
seasonal schedule is now available. Travel times and trip start times are modified to allow faster travel times through OSU’s campus.
Line 19 Arlington/Grandview (Weekday) Travel times are adjusted to improve on-time performance.

Line 21 Night Owl (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) Buses no longer travel on
High Street south of Broad Street. Buses now travel south on High Street, east on Long Street, south on Third Street, west on Broad Street, north on Front Street, east on Long Street, and north on High Street over regular route.
Travel times are adjusted to improve on-time performance.

Line 81 Hudson/Ohio (All Days) Travel times are adjusted to improve on-time performance.
Line 87 Agler/Cassady (Weekday and Saturday) Earlier morning and later evening service is now available. Travel
times throughout the day are adjusted.
Line 95 Morse/Henderson (Weekday) Last eastbound trip time is adjusted five minutes later to enable
transfers at Morse Road and High Street.

Line 98 Columbus Zoo (Saturday) Saturday seasonal Zoo service begins on May 10, 2014.

Bus Stop Service Improvement Project
Project Goals: Optimally space bus stops
to balance the need for quick in-vehicle travel time with considerations of the distance that customers must walk to access bus stops
Improve operational efficiency
Reduce maintenance costs of underutilized bus stops
Improve travel times, where possible

The following were analyzed for May 2014: Line 3 W. Mound/Northwest Blvd (Local) Line 6 Sullivant/Mt. Vernon (Local)
All service will be discontinued from stops that are removed as a part of this project.
Bus lines that share stops with the above lines may also be affected by bus stop changes as part of this project.

A public comment period about these changes was held from February 10 – March 3, 2014.

COTA update
COTA.com website is being redesigned to be more friendly for mobile users and to provide access to real-time bus arrival information.
COTA’s South and North Terminals Downtown are undergoing refurbishment to accommodate CNG buses.
COTA is undertaking a Transit System Review First round of public meetings were held the week of March 17 Second round of public meetings will be held in late May and early
June to review the proposed final bus network design Transit System Review will be complete September 2014 Online survey and proposed bus network scenarios are available
on COTA.com

COTA update
Cleveland Avenue Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project Development: Project Development activities for the proposed BRT line are
underway, which include conducting an environmental clearance study and preliminary engineering/design.
Public meetings are scheduled for April 9, 17 and 30. Additional public meetings, including neighborhood corridor
meetings and other public outreach activities, will be scheduled throughout the year through October 2014.
