DESCRIPTION
In 2009 and 2012, InSTEDD worked with Thomson Reuters Foundation to design, test and deploy an "Emergency Information System" program that would help survivors of a crisis with information relevant to them delivered via their mobiles. Here is a synopsis and the results of a 3rd party evaluation done after the deployment in Haiti.

‘Before, I did not care if people urinated near my
tent where I live, but after receiving information
from EIS regarding health hazards, whenever I
saw someone doing it near my tent I’d tell them
what they were doing was putting our health in

cope with earthquake aftershocks. EIS gave me
lots of tips on how to help them.’
