Changing a habit. It’s not always easy to change a habit, but it’s always

possible.

• Cross your arms.• Now cross them the other way. How does it feel?• If you fold them the opposite way for 30 days, it

would become a new habit.

What is it all about ? Habit 7 is all about keeping your personal self

sharp so that you can better with life.• Body : The physical dimension. Exercise, eat healthy, sleep well, and relax.• Brain : The mental dimension. Read, Educate, Write, and learn new skills.• Heart : The emotional dimension. Build relationships, give service, and laugh.• Soul : The spiritual dimension. Meditate, keep a journal, pray, and take in quality

media.

Balance is better.•Why is balance important ?• It’s because how you do in one dimension of life will

effect the other 3.•Think about it, if one of your car’s tires is out of

balance, all four tires will wear unevenly, not just the one.

• It’s hard to be friendly when you’re exhausted it also works the other way.

•When you’re feeling motivated and in tune with yourself , it’s easier to focus on your studies and to be more friendly.

Caring of your body.

•Eat good food•Relax in the bathtub•Bike•Lift weights•Get enough sleep

•Practice Yoga•Play sports•Take walks•Stretch out•Do an aerobics workout

The four key ingredients to a healthy body are good sleeping habits, physical relaxation, good nutrition, and proper exercise. Here’s a list of 10 ways teens can keep their physical selves sharp:

Use it or lose it.•Don’t let “pain” be the first thing that comes to your

mind when you hear the word “exercise.” Instead find something you enjoy doing, so that it’s easy to maintain.

It’s all about how you feel not how you look.

• The importance is feeling good physically—and not so much your appearance.

• Talk show host Oprah Winfrey said it best: “You have to change your perception. It’s not about weight—it’s about caring for yourself on a daily basis.”

The refusal skills. Staying away from drugs of all kinds is a lot easier said than

done. Here are steps that you might want to consider the nest time you

feel pressured to drink, smoke, or do drugs, and don’t really want to.

•Ask questions. Ask tough questions that really make you think about what you’re doing.

“Why would I want to smoke?”•Name the trouble. Try to put a face on what you’re doing.

“Smoking pot is illegal.”•State the consequences. Think through the consequences of your actions.

“I could get arrested if I’m caught with drugs.”

Don’t let school get in the way of your education.

Grades are important, especially because they lead to future job and education options. But there is so much more to an education than grades. Although grades are important, becoming truly educated is more important, so make sure you don’t forget why you’re going to school.

Caring of your Heart.

Caring of your soul.Your soul is your center, wherein lie your deepest convictions and values. Your soul is a very private area of your life. Naturally, there are many ways to feed it. Here are a few:

•Meditating.•Serving others.•Writing in my journal.•Going for a walk.•Reading inspiring books.

•Thinking deeply.•Practicing a religion.•Reflecting on my goals

or mission statement.•Drawing.•Praying.

You can do it.You’re probably doing a lot of saw sharpening without even knowing it. Sharpening the saw won’t just happen to you—you have to be proactive to and happen to it. The best thing to do is take out time each day to sharpen the saw. There’s not right way—so find what works for you.
