Sometimes memories fade but pictures can help you to savor them forever. By using Picasa 3 to add text to your pictures you can further enhance your pictures and the way you remember them. You can add "catch phrases" from the event, comments about the picture, captions, names, etc. in order to fully immerse yourself back into the memory and to help you remember it. A picture is worth a thousand words--or in this case, as many as you can fit on it.

Things You'll Need

• computer (Mac or PC)• pictures on the computer• internet access

Tips and Warnings

• Make sure that all desired pictures are loaded onto your computer before opening Picasa. It does not matter where the pictures are located on your computer or what format they are in

• Picasa 3 locates all pictures saved on your

computer and downloads them onto the program automatically when it opens.

Step 1

Type "picasa.google.com" into the URL bar.

Step 2On the next page, click the blue box that says "Download Picasa 3.6" in the top right portion of the page. If you are using a Mac, the blue box will say "Download Picasa 3.6 for Mac" and if you are using a PC, it will say "Download Picasa 3.6 for Windows". It will install instantly.

Step 3

Open Picasa by clicking on its icon on your desktop or dock.

Once opened, Picasa will load all saved pictures on your computer. Double click on the picture you would like to add text to.

Step 5Under the "Basic Fixes" tab (the tab furthest to the left) click on the "text" icon.

Click anywhere on the picture where you would like your text to start.

Type the desired text.

Step 8

Change the font, size, alignment and style of the text on the top section of tools. Each of these options will be further explained on the following slides.

To change the text color, click on the circle next to the first bold T. Or, if you only want the outline of the text to show, click on the red crossed out box next to that circle.

To change the color of the text's outline, click on the circle next to the outlined T. To change the thickness of the outline, scroll the sliding bar left for thinner, right for thicker.

To change the transparency of the text, slide the bar left for more transparency and right for less transparency.

Once you have the desired look, click the Apply button and save your picture by clicking File, then Save.

Congratulations!

You have just successfully added text to your photo via digital methods!
