A RSS feed is a news feed that allows you to be notified when new content is posted somewhere. Usually you’ll see these used on blogs, podcasts, and news websites. For example we have RSS feed for small business owners -

For Little Technical Guys here, an RSS feed is pretty much XML plain text files that allows information to be published once and then opened by many different applications.

Step 1 : Identify Your Industry’s Best Sources
Pay attention for a week or two to see where you get your industry news from. If you are like me, I find a lot of my web design & web marketing news from smashing magazine, thenextweb, sitepronews etc.
You just Need to pay closer attention – what blogs do you keep clicking off to from LinkedIn, facebook or whatever other site you may be on?

Step 2 : Subscribe them
For instance if you go to http://www.eprofitbooster.com/small-business-growth-blog/ you’ll see the image below on the right hand side of their website that shows how you can stay up to date using an RSS reader. Rather than having to now go to each website each day, the news is brought to you.
Use feedly.com as your feed aggregator & reader --- >

A side benefit of this is that you are reading the content you are interested in and not getting distracted by everything else on the website. Staying focused can be tough when there is so much good information to read.
Now that you know where you are primarily reading the news from go to those websites and subscribe to their RSS feeds.

Step 3 : Start Establishing Yourself
• Now all required information you need is in one place For Instance – say you are a Garment manufacturer looking to market yourself to the buyers community. For you, you would want to go to the fashion blogs that you gather your daily news from and subscribe to those feeds. Then you need to subscribe a few export or garment suppliers related blogs. By setting RSS feeds the news comes to you, you will save yourself time and always be up to date with the latest information.

Lets Setup your RSS feed step by step
If you have static website then RSS feed will be created this way.
- Go to http://www.yoktu.com/feedmaker/ - The most straight forward service and probably a good choice for someone who doesn’t have a geeky web background.
- Click on the RSS on the icon.
- Save the web page as an xml document with name as feed.
- Upload this xml document to your website root folder and chk it open with www.yourwebsitename.com/feed.xml
If you're using a website developed on wordpress then it automatically generates feeds, chk www.yourwebsitename.com/feed

Promoting through RSS Feeds
• Now Since you have created your own RSS feeds to grow your business, its time to promote it a little to get some real business.
• First announce your RSS feeds on your business website
- One of the easiest ways to announce your feed on your site is to use FeedBurner.com. They provide a redirect URL (address) for your feed that your audience subscribes to.
THE BIG ADVANTAGE:
The benefit is that if you move your blog and your RSS feed URL changes, you don't have to worry about losing your subscribers because the redirect URL they provide stays the same.
