How To Keep Your Audience Engaged During A Presentation
By Jeff Nevill
The Importance Of Audience Engagement
• When giving a presentation one of the most useful things to remember is that audience engagement is essential
• Anything else is simply counter-productive & could waste both yours and the audience’s time
• Create an excellent rapport with your audience & make them feel genuinely involved in your presentation
• This will ensure that you stand out from the competition & your material isn’t wasted
• Take advantage of the technical advancements in the events industry & employ an electronic voting system
Make Sure That Everyone Is Involved & Engaged
• Not only will this keep your audience’s attention, it will also give them the impression that you genuinely value their opinion & that they are contributing to the presentation
• It is also a great way of involving those who are a little more introverted
• If you are still struggling after this then try informing your audience that you will be asking a series of questions during your talk
Make Sure That Everyone Is Involved & Engaged
• This is often the first mistake that those who are inexperienced in giving presentations make
• As you speak make sure that you move around the room with energy & make eye contact with different members of the audience
• This makes you appear more approachable & in turn will help make your audience feel comfortable & at ease
Move Around: Don’t Stand Still
Let The Audience Do The Work For You
• Once you have finished your presentation you can ask the audience to work together in small groups to answer a series of questions & feedback to the others
• This both reinforces the felling that you genuinely value their opinion but also stimulating them mentally
