LESSON 5 ASSIGNMENTDemonstrate the configuring of an EQ plugin to function like a large format
mixing console EQ section
HI
•My name is Constant
• I’m 27
• From France
• I have a very slow internet so I can’t upload video but I will try to entertain you with this keynote.
I’m sure you saw “Sound City”(if not you should it’s a great movie), so I wanted to set an EQ like the Neve
Board they had there, but I could not found the settings of this EQ so I will
show you how to set up the EQ of the more recent 88RS Neve Board in
Logic.
This board can be found in Ocean Way, Abbey Road (in the picture), AIR, The Village, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Skywalker
Sound.
From the manual I found that the EQ is in 2 parts.
First we have an Input Filter with a low pass and a high pass filter.
Then we have a Channel Module with 4 bands.
I re-used the project of week 3 and inserted an EQ
This the default setting of the Channel EQ in Logic
First we want to turn off everything, you don’t want unnecessary band, it will
decrease your CPU usage
First band we want is a High Pass filter. On the board we have a 12 dB/Oct reduction with frequency ranges from
31.5Hz to 315HzThis will get rid of noise
Then we want a Low Pass filter. Again we have a 12 dB/Oct
reduction but with frequency ranges from 7.5kHz to 18kHz
Next we need a High Shelving Filter with a range
from 33Hz to 440HzOn this board the 4 bands can cut or boost by 20dB. But you should avoid to boost too much.
We also want a High Shelving Filter with a range
from1.5kHz to18kHz
Next we need some Low Mid-Band EQ with a peak range from120Hz to 2kHz
and Q from 0.4 to 10
Last band on this board is an High Mid-Band with a peak range from 0.8kHz to 9kHz
and a Q from 0.4 to 10
To save this EQ click on the arrow and select Save As
