The First thing you will notice is that the advert is very similar to the album. In fact it uses the same album artwork just with a few added bits of information.

Genre

The advert contains no image of the band, this may be because they are already a well established band and do not need to have an image of themselves on the front.

My genre research also showed me that Alternative rock albums are often concept based albums and this follows that theme.

Red Hot Chili Peppers also quite often have an abstract theme on their albums.

Other Red Hot Chili Pepper Albums

As you can see by looking at the albums

you would be able to tell they’re by the same artist even if it did not say the artist name as they have a very distinctive brand.

Branding

Therefore when a fan sees this image they are well aware who the artist is and are instantly interested in the advert.

Deconstruction

The advert itself is very simple, yet effective. It uses colours that go together well and yet both stand out such as red and grey.

There is an image of a womans lips with bright red lip stick on. This immediately stands out from the background and is the first thing you see. It also means when the album is released it will be easy to find.

At the top of the advert it says the band name ‘Red Hot Chili Peppers’ in bright red writing to match the colour of the lips. Below it says the album name in a similar Dark grey used on the image.

Other Information

There is other information on the advert, this is to inform fans of any relevant information so that the band can maximize sales when its released.

The information contains the release dates, written in a smaller, but still visible font.

There is also a final bit of information telling the audience what the CD contains, such as ‘2 new songs and 14 videos available’.
