Establishing a monitoring infrastructure for:
• Data Management,
• Data Workflows,
• Data Modeling,
• and Visualizations.
Special challenges are:
• Heterogeneous data sources
• Large volumes of data streams
• Integration in existing infrastructures
• Various tasks like acquisition, processing, visualization, and archiving

INTEGRATED ARCHITECTURE MODEL
9
• Use SOA principles and Enter-prise Service Bus (ESB) tech- nologies
• Use of Observation & Measure-ment (O&M)
• Use Sensor Model Language (SensorML)
• Use of Sensor Web Enablement and OGC Web Services like
– SOS
– WMS/WFS
– CSW

INTEGRATED ARCHITECTURE MODEL
11
• Need of Integrated Reference Architecture (IRA) for similar sensor integration purposes
• The SSB-component has to be simplified to exclude real-time applications
• SSB has to be enlarged for purposes of long term archiving
• In future: Need of easy to use tools for pre-selecting and downloading specific content of data infrastructure

PERSPECTIVES
12
• Five environmental observatories within TERENO NE
• Data management group objective is an integrated and general reference architecture as reference model
• Data of all observatories are published through standardized web services
• It allows the reuse and interoperability of the architecture
• Refinement of single design steps and full implementation
