PROTEINS: STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION.
BY: Daniel Santiago Valencia Hernández
Proteins have a great potential for several diseases’
treatments.
Developing new techniques and
solutions creates alternatives, as in
investigations as in therapies.
Structure of tumor-suppressing Protein Identified.
CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY(August 20th, 2015).
These studies that researches have been doing are a very good window that allows the rest of the
investigation community to propose something else, and
keep digging within this matter.
‘Fountain of youth’ protein points to possible human health benefit.
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN FRANCISCO
(August 25th, 2015).
They had an investigation advantage, previous works; even
though, they had to collect the pieces and put them together in order to get the big picture, they
did it. Perhaps, new and amazing studies are about to come thanks
to these researchers.
Both researches were focused on proteins and how their structure merged with their function, that mixture allowed researchers to point new methods in order to treat, more efficiently, some diseases.
Proteins are very important just because they are the feedstock to our tissue-building machinery within cells. It is how the genome can be translated to a physical expression and, therefore, codify a tissue to its own functions.
A lot of treatments for some diseases are just destined to flaw, not because of the treatment itself, but because of the very reason beneath every disease. As minimum as a change within a protein’s structure might be, that may imply huge differences over treatments.
