Getting Quality Internships: Current Challenges

• Students keen to improve their skills through quality internships but often do not get good opportunities

• Many internships work out through family connections. Those who are less fortunate on that aspect, hence, lose out

• Some companies offer internships, but do not involve students in quality projects where they get good exposure and learn valuable skills

• For companies, they often come across with students who are keen just to have a company name in their CV; but less keen on developing competency and experience. This demotivates the mentors in charge of students and impact the project quality during future internship programs

• Industry mentors prefer experienced hands, who can help them to meet their deadlines at work. Hence, they tend to be less enthusiastic about having interns who need to be trained from scratch

• Eligibility:- Masters Degree/PhD Holders

• Duration:- 6-12 Months

• Venue:- Company office/lab/plant

Long Term Internships

Summer Interns

• Selected through partnering programs with reputed colleges/ institutes

• Involved selection process conducted by AcuBiz to ensure the quality of interns

• Training under a knowledgeable mentor by the company is ensured

• The internships can be with our industry partners in India or abroad at their facilities or at their academic collaborator’s facilities

Long-term Interns

• Fresh post graduates/ PhDs from reputed colleges/ institutes

• Interns may have chances of getting absorbed on full time basis based on their performance for 6-12 months and availability of suitable positions

• Long term interns will get chance to work on research projects that can lead to research publications or conference presentations, based on the nature of projects and contribution of students

• The candidates will be under selected mentors who will be responsible for guiding the interns

Program Objectives

The key objectives of this program are as below:

• To enable the partnering institutes to secure valuable internship opportunities for their students that can improve their employability by many fold

• To enable the partnering companies to have access to good quality skilled interns, which can eventually translate into economic and effective hiring opportunities

• To offer deserving students opportunities to gain industry experience under qualified mentors and increase their visibility through publications and conference papers. All these can assist them in making effective career decisions and shape their professional life better

Selection Process for Interns at Partnering Institutes

• Student interactive sessions are conducted at selected institutes and

CVs of potential interns are collected

• In addition to CVs, the prospective interns will fill up AcuBiz

questionnaire and will undergo our interview processes

• Specifics of internship positions are collected from participating

companies and quality of the projects are evaluated by AcuBiz team

• 1st round of screening:- Academic background of the potential interns

are compared against the available project specifics

• Most suitable CVs for the projects are selected and shared with the

mentors in the partnering companies

• The CVs short listed by the company mentors are further short listed based on various parameters (e.g. Attitude, initiative, and matters related to logistics/finance/..etc that are picked by AcuBiz during interactions with students)

• After these rounds of match-making sessions, AcuBiz finalises hiring decisions

• AcuBiz will train prospective interns on work ethics, standards and commitments expected during the program

• AcuBiz will share the expectations of the program with the mentors of participating companies and their academic collaborators

Selection Process for Interns at Partnering Institutes

• Hands on laboratory or plant projects in R&D/QC/production departments

• Projects related to patent analysis, regulatory submissions, etc

• Business projects on strategy development, industry analysis, and technology assessment
