Dzi (pronounced zee) is a name given to amotif that looks like an eye, usually a dotwithin a circle. The dzi motifs on the thirdbracelet are hand painted in black, on an off-white polished stone surface (bottom right ofthe illustration). In some world cultures anoverseeing eye is represented by a dzi motif.

RED JASPER

The word jasper means ‘stone with dots’ in Greek, so is it notuncommon for dots or bands of colour to be present in a jaspertumble stone, carved object or raw specimen.

MagnetiteMagnetite is a dark and grainy ore, which has a lustrous sheen when it is polished. Itis sometimes called ‘magnetic hematite’ or ‘lodestone’. In the field of naturalhealing, magnetite is reputed for its grounding frequency.

The lustrous quality of polished magnetite permits a contemplation between thedark grey/black (sometimes brownish) material and the light that reflects from itssurface.
