How to choose the rightGarage Door Hinge

WHICH HINGE?

Normally you can read the hinge number directly on the hinge. If you cannot read this number or cannot find it, measure the distance from the bottom of the hinge to the middle of the top circle on the side of the hinge. Make sure that you place the hinge on a flat surface and measure to the middle of the circle.

#1 Hinge- Approximately 5/8” to 3/4”

#2 Hinge- Approximately 7/8” to 1”

#3 Hinge- Approximately 1-1/8” to 1-1/4”

#4 Hinge- Approximately 1-3/8” to 1-1/2”

#5 Hinge- Approximately 1-5/8” to 1-3/4”

#6 Hinge- Approximately 1-7/8” to 2”

Normally you can read the hinge number directly on the hinge. If you cannot read this number or cannot find it, measure the distance from the bottom of the hinge to the middle of the top circle on the side of the hinge. Make sure that you place the hinge on a flat surface and measure to the middle of the circle.

*The dimensions of the hinges given above are based on industry standards. These dimensions may vary slightly based on the manufacturer.

Then you need to decide on which Garage Door Roller

Steel or Nylon?

Our suggestion would be to replace with the same rollers that are already on your door. However, there a few factors that should inform your decision.

Our steel rollers are high performance, durable and are resistant to rust, but if you

live in a high moisture environment you should consider upgrading to nylon.

Nylon rollers are much quieter than steel rollers and longer lasting, but they are a little more

expensive.

The more ball-bearings inside the garage door roller there are, the quieter and smoother the garage door will run and the longer the rollers will last.
