THE CHALLENGEHuawei UK won a major contract with Virgin Media - to help the telecom operator replace its legacy business support system (BSS)with leading-edge technology. But Huawei needed a unique individual to join its team: a solutions architect and project manager rolled into one, as the design and delivery elements were inseparable.

THE CHALLENGEHuawei’s Western European HQ were looking for a Business Readiness Consultant for a new business readiness framework for client projects across Europe. They were looking for a candidate with experience of business process frameworks and implementing these frameworks within telecoms operators. THE CHALLENGEThe client was looking to hire a number of IPTV Solution Architects at varying levels of seniority. IPTV is a booming industry and as such Solution Architects with a great deal of experience are difficult to find and hard to lure away from high paying roles. As it is a new area for Huawei Germany, they were a little unsure on the specific requirements for each role and how the newly created team would all work together.

THE SOLUTIONDue to our market knowledge and experience Vine Resources were able to help Huawei Germany build a specification for each role. By discussing the specifications for IPTV Solutions Architects we have placed in the past, we were able to give them an idea of what the role requires and what remuneration packages they might offer. THE CHALLENGEHuawei’s business had increased in the Netherlands with their converged network solution for KPN. Huawei needed to build their local team onsite and needed to find a European based Senior IP Network Architect who not only had a strong background within anoperator but understand the challenges of interfacing with clients from the vendors side.

THE CHALLENGEKPMG needed a senior operations engineer for a key role based in Holland: providing infrastructure support and deployment for its global network of 145,000 people across 150 countries. This new, business-critical position also included managing vendor partners and helping to ensure the smooth-running of KPMG's global data centre operations for Europe, the Americas and the Asia/Pacific regions. However, local recruitment agencies in Holland failed to identify a single candidate over a 4-6 month period.

THE CHALLENGETech Mahindra are providing an outsource solution to a major cable TV provider in Netherlands. This particular project required professional contract resource to develop the clients order management solution – ConceptWave to fit with the client’s business needs and system designs. ConceptWave skills are rare and the challenge was to source and secure talent that is not generally available on the open market.

THE SOLUTIONIt was clear early on that we would need to source overseas resource for the project and we soon identified similar projects from which to draw resource. THE CHALLENGEVodafone / O2 are investing in their network across the UK. There has been demand from the business to increase the network capacity with a 2G, 3G and 4G refresh. Due to already demanding workloads on existing staff a contractor was required to join one of the regional team based out of Glasgow, Scotland working for John McCracken.

THE CHALLENGEOracle needed an exceptional candidate for a pivotal role at a critical time: its major new business support system (BSS) for Vodafone in the UK was mid-delivery and needed a seasoned programme manager with gravitas to make an instant impact. They required a BSS Program Director to work with a key client of theirs on an online charging system replacement project.
