“Employee Engagement”

A Brief Introduction • What makes one company more successful than another? Better

products, services, strategies, technologies or, perhaps, a better cost structure? Certainly, all of these contribute to superior performance, but all of them can be copied over time.

• The one thing that creates sustainable competitive advantage – and therefore ROI, company value and long-term strength – is the workforce, the people who are the company.

• And when it comes to people, research has shown, time and again, that employees who are engaged significantly outperform work groups that are not engaged.

• In the fight for competitive advantage where employees are the differentiator, engaged employees are the ultimate goal.

What is Employee Engagement?

• Employee engagement is the emotional attachment employees feel towards their place of work, job role, position within the company, colleagues and culture and the affect this attachment has on wellbeing and productivity.

• From an employer's point-of-view, employee engagement is concerned with using new measures and initiatives to increase the positive emotional attachment felt and therefore productivity and overall business success.

Importance of Employee Engagement

• Today, employee engagement and loyalty are more vital than ever before to an organization’s success and competitive advantage.

• Experts predict the current turnover rate may rise to 65%. With recruiting costs running approximately 1.5 times annual salary, the ability to engage and retain valuable employees has a significant impact on an organization’s bottom line.

• The question for management is how to ensure that the supervisors interact with individuals to generate an engaged workforce.

Caring Managers – Key to Engaged Employees !

• The study revealed that a “caring” manager is one of the key elements that drives employee engagement.

• That is, employees want their managers to care about their personal lives, to take an interest in them as people, to care about how they feel and support their health and well-being.

• A manager’s ability to build strong relationships with employees, build strong team interaction and lead in a “person-centered” way creates an engaging environment in which employees can perform at the highest possible level.

About Lioness Club

• Lioness Clubs are part of Lions Clubs International, the largest service organization in the world.  With over 1.4 million members in 44,000 communities around the globe, we take a ‘hands on role’ in improving the quality of life in the local community and the wider world.

• Most of them are females aged 18 to infinity who have joined together in friendship and enjoy each other’s company.• They pride themselves on playing an active part in the local community, helping those less fortunate than people, as well as

enjoying a social life with like-minded individuals who come from all walks of life.

How the Lioness Club Works?

• Lionesses are not just a group who get together over a cup of coffee.  We are a ‘professional’ organization who hold regular business meetings not only as individual Clubs but also at area, national and even international level.

• Individual Clubs decide on their own way of working, providing they remain within the guidelines set down in the ‘Document of Understanding’ (the national guide book for Lionesses).

• Clubs organize their own events as well as deciding how best to spend the money to help their local community and we are proud to say that as an organization every penny raised from the public goes directly to charity.

• The cost of administering the Clubs at all levels is covered by the members themselves.  • Every penny raised for charitable purposes is used to assist others and Lionesses keep accounts which are

available to anyone wishing to examine them.
